Article: G-Dragon "I've never thought of going anywhere but YG"
Source: OSEN via Nate
1. [+519, -251] Haters, no matter how much you hate, the minute G-Dragon leaves YG, all of the other agencies will be lining up to sign him on.
2. [+416, -193] The power of Yang Hyun Suk ㅋㅋ You can really tell that YG artists look out for one another... It'd be really fun to work in an environment like that ㅎㅎ It's always been nice to see them look like a family. Definitely YG.
3. [+357, -156] I'm a man. I think other men need to acknowledge that they're jealous.
4. [+116, -86] Look at all these men trying to leave hateful replies ㅋㅋㅋ Admit it, YG is #1 at respecting and supporting their artists
5. [+89, -102] Duh, of course you wouldn't want to leave YG, what other company would put up with all of your crimes? ㅋ

1. [+519, -251] Haters, no matter how much you hate, the minute G-Dragon leaves YG, all of the other agencies will be lining up to sign him on.
ReplyDeleteTHIS^^
Looking at the comments I guess GD was right when he said Korea doesn't quite understand the concept of sampling.
ReplyDeleteLol at that plagerism list, some of them just use the same words and some have the proper credits in the liner notes {forever realizing how little people actually READ the credits and liner notes for songs. /sigh}. silly silly.
ReplyDeleteDamn that's a LONG list! o_o
ReplyDeleteI read that XXL interview and my gripe is not about the "plagiarism" issue at all but the fact that he tries to distance himself from other K-Pop idols and throw shade on idol groups that are "embarrassing" from a foreign perspective. Talk about the teapot calling the kettle black! He's really good at what he does most of the time but some of the things he's come out with (e.g. "Crayon") are hella embarrassing and if he were to ever present those works to a foreign hip hop fan, he'd get ripped on for being the Korean version Lil Wayne...and that's not a compliment at ALL.
He never said he isn't embarrassed of what he does though? He could be embarrassed of what others do and still experience embarrassment by what he does. In fact it, in a different interview he said that looking back to his 1st album he is embarrassed that he tried so hard to perfect it when he could just be "having fun" and doing whatever it was he wishes to do. Which would be the whole point of why he entered the industry.
ReplyDeleteGD love the hair cause it has so much texture and color. but recently ur and taeang outfits r to much getto looking it doesnt work especially the MAMA awards. even black rappers dont try to wear stuff like that unless ur lil wayne but then again he is covered in tattoos from head to toe even his teeth are blinnged so unless u want to change ur target audience town it down a bit
ReplyDeleteLol if these netizens would actually look at the credits in physical albums they'd know how stupid they look not knowing the difference with sampling & plagiarism.
ReplyDeleteShameless and an embarrasment. His rap during mama was cringeworthy
ReplyDeleteNo, he didn't say that he isn't embarrassed of what he does but the fact that didn't openly admit (in the same interview) that sometimes he himself does the same things he's criticizing seems hypocritical to me...maybe even uppity, as if he's above it all.
ReplyDeleteIt's normal for an artist to feel embarrassed of their early works, even healthy I suppose, because all artists should be seeking growth and maturity in their expertise over time. While he has certainly grown from that time, I think he's missed the mark a few times and that if he's going to throw shade on other idols, the least he could do is set the record straight and admit that even he gets it wrong sometimes.
Yeah,i agree with you. I kinda like his hair but i'm afraid because he always change his hair colour. And their outfit are good sometimes but sometimes it's also ridiculous. They're trying too hard to look ghetto. I'm not suprised if both of them want to have their teeth blinged someday.
ReplyDelete''I think other men need to acknowledge that they're jealous.'' what were they saying?
ReplyDeleteI think he's being..kinda arrogant? A lil bit. I'm not his hater. Just stating my opinion.
ReplyDeleteNot only fangirls bash female idols, males do the same to male idols lol
ReplyDeleteThose are definitely the vibes that I'm getting from him in this interview, yes.
ReplyDeletebut yes what is the difference?. its still unoriginal. i really dont mind cause heck if it sounds nice i will listen to it i like bb songs and i love TOP and GD voices. however for a group that everytime people talk about as "ORIGINAL" and u see a list like that that is supposedly "sampling" u just laugh because were does being an artist comes from it. but then again the charm of BB comes from the fact that they r the first asians who went mainstream and commercial with the so called HIP HOP theme that is unusual for asians
ReplyDeleteLOL no one can hate k-pop idols as much as Korean pple :D :D Ahahaah really whats their problem? He talks about sampling in the interview and netizens make a list of sampled songs and say its plagiarism and i don't think any of his songs r embarrassing come on u think the melody of Gangnam Style isn't embarrassing What about the MV but pple ate it up..i think Crayon is a fun song and it sure is a different genre..And the MV is hella funny...If you don't get it then just shut up no need to hate or spread the hate...
ReplyDeleteExactly. I thought i'm the only one. Imo,he should improve himself first before he's gonna say something like that. But i think it's not necessary to say something like that, though.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It wasn't necessary at all, imho.
ReplyDeleteStretch...considering the so called "ORIGINAL" artists in America that these boys and everyone in KPOP look up to and are influenced by do sampling themselves. There is no such thing as original anymore. Artists, be it in America or Korea just adapt and upgrade that "style". And that so called list would be just a hint off their whole discography.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but "One of A Kind" is embarrassing as well imo (more than Crayon even).
ReplyDeleteI liked the song but the fashion choice was embarrassing...like he was trying way too hard to be "hood." Not to mention the scheme screamed Gangsta Disciples and GD is definitely not about that life.
ReplyDeleteLmao
Deleteu just said it. no one cares if u say it like that. but when u have a list of girls insisting that is original than i am sorry it is not. but come on some bb song were coped even to the lyrics and no their is a difference between artist sampling a genre or a theme and a difference between the ones who sample a specific song. and thats where lies the difference. artiste who start the trend and singers who take it and sample. k-pop as a whole samples then
ReplyDeletelots of people are embarrassed by their own country pop...
ReplyDeleteBut he is talking about it if it were an outside critisizer which is true, how many kpop fans are looked down on or can proudly say that they like kpop and not feel embarrassed? Or how many people truly dwells on what more has KPOP has to offer? not just what they see first hand? For example, especially in articles nowadays how many of them starts with something related to PSY & Gangnam Style? That when people hear "KPOP" it gets lumped into a category even when many artists are different. That is what he doesn't want to happen that is what is embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteGDragon used to look very good in his Lies and Haru haru days
ReplyDeleteNow he just looks like a Korean Lady Gaga.
totally agree with you.
ReplyDeleteThe problem about that is that he CANNOT and can NEVER be or play the role of an outside critic for two main reasons: 1. He's not a foreigner, and 2. he's still a K-Pop idol. What he's saying is the truth. A lot of K-Pop IS embarrassing and it's unfortunate that a lot of good groups get grouped together with other groups that have no business making music in the first place.
ReplyDeleteBut if he's going to proverbially throw other idols under the bus and call them an embarrassing, he should be prepared to prove that his own works are not an embarrassment. While his and Big Bang's discography is mostly impressive, he can't indirectly remove himself from the situation when he himself has released questionable material.
Then take your comments to those "girls" who think they are original lol cause even as a KPOP fan myself do not think it is original, same goes to American music. KPOP is highly influenced.
ReplyDeleteAgree. It seems like he's trying too hard to be 'hood'.When it's not. Sometimes,it's embarrassing to see it. Sometimes,i wonder why he becomes like that? I hope he will tone it down a lil bit. Just because it's unique/differrent it doesnt mean it looks good sometimes. Imo,he already can look good without wearing these kind of clothes.
ReplyDelete"the concept of sampling." ROFL
ReplyDelete1. [+519, -251] Haters, no matter how much you hate, the minute G-Dragon leaves YG, all of the other agencies will be lining up to sign him on.
ReplyDeleteSeriously this.
for me, his attitude is worse than all his plagiarism issues
ReplyDeletelol they really love hating him but no matter what they will still listen his songs in the future...
ReplyDeletenow i know why the korean music industry sucks. they know absolutely nothing about music!
ReplyDeleteFans loves how he's arrogant and different from other idols.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I liked his earlier days when he didn't always resort to the craziest sense of fashion. He's talented and confident enough to wear a basic hoodie and still command attention. He doesn't need all of the mess he's wearing nowadays for that.
ReplyDeleteGDragon is the future of KPOP, other idols like JYJ and SJ are a joke compared to him.
ReplyDelete1. [+1,421, -491] What's he saying? Is he on drugs?
ReplyDeletewouldn't be surprised if u told me he was he always look like he is on drugs
also what is wrong with his song crayon was he under drugs when he made it & the other shitty song One of a kind
most of his song are plagiarism even my 8 year old bro said he is trying so hard to act like American singers that it embarrassing to watch him the only good song that was not a plagiarism he made was lie
such a hypocritical he should talk about himself first
Me too. He still wears the normal clothes sometimes, but it's very rare to see it. Agree and i really hope that he wouldnt go any far again after this like blinged his teeth or whatever. Just no.
ReplyDeletei think i get where he is coming from, while i'm not the style to think bigbang is the most original group out there or oppa is a genious i kinda feel why being put under the kpop category he might find it hard for him sometime.
ReplyDeletefor example i have seen a kpop report here in france when they talk about kpop they kinda show from all groups, teen top, boyfriend, suju, bigbang snsd ET.., make sure to inform people how those idols are trained like robots & all they do is sing songs given by their company and are nothing more than pretty faces.
unless someone is hater everybody can admit that bigbang got in impressive discography out there, and each member have at least one song he have participated in ( solo or group song).
so when an idol like gd who create his own music , go out korea & get called kpop idol all people will think is that kind of describtion above.
i think what he is trying to proove from what i gathered from most of bb usa & gd interview is that they trying to prove that despite being idols, they are more than pretty face that they actualy can sing & rap!
good thing they are not even coming in france cause i can hear media from far another kpop concert pass. while i read some usa review saying for example i went there without expecting much but returned impressed by their show. cause yes bigbang is kpop but they use a live band sing live for three hours & honestly are good performers overall! so yeah being put under kpop category can harm them sometime
This !
DeleteIt is defenitely being looked down by those stero type of Kpop as a robot manafacturured idols.
Admit it, it's a shame to be put under that stereotype for a group like Bigbang who has contributed to their music since day1.
And those plagiarism list. Haha . No doubt haters wouldn't buy their physical ablums so they would never know.
I can give you a lift of songs during 2009- 2010 , most HIT songs which are under that plagiarism issue invl the mega hit GEE.
Kbits used to translate the K articles and we knew how many song were so called influenced. No proper sampling credits. You guys will be surprised. Haha
Oh lawd if he ever blings his teeth I will rage SO hard. That mess is not even hygienic! D:
ReplyDeleteI get where he's coming from as well, as I explained to THAT XXXX above. However, if he's going to criticize other idols, it should be constructive and not make him look like he's believing in his own hype, and to that end, appear hypocritical.
ReplyDeleteHe has all his rights to believe that SOME ACTs are embarassing in Kpop.
DeleteWhat is wrong with that? I believe many of Kpop fans are embarassing to the max too when people outside kpop fandom diss your oppas and unnies . Hahaha.
Thats why thw answer to the question if he Was an outsider , he would probably feel that Kpop acts , some, can be ashamed to watch.
he's a kpop idol too and who is he to say something like that?he's part of them too...and who is he to judge something like that? just because he is ahead from them doesnt mean he have to say something like this. Off topic but i don't like how he's trying to act like American sometimes.. Psy already said something like this and i think it's directly to yg idols....
ReplyDeleteIf no one even himself can criticize or break apart their own work they wouldn't improve. He stated it too, he is glad that he is part of KPOP but at the same time in the long run...that title will be attached to him and would be a disadvantage once tries to branch out (but so far, as fas as i know he has no plans~) He is embarrassed for others, embarrassed for himself and at the same time still appreciative of what KPOP as a brand has done for him and his position in the industry.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your summary.
DeletePeople these day CANT effing READ.
Go back to school and study harder kids.
And learn to read properly what truly is the main idea ,
Put aside the biasmess, people will see what GD is trying to address here.
How that mess is not that hygienic? Well, who knows he might doing something like this or even worst than that to make himself looks unique/cooler/different than others :p you just gotta be ready for it anytime anywhere D:
ReplyDeletesomewhere in this interview the author compared him to kanye west! somehow he have always reminded of him in a way he is confident in himself & belive in his own talent!
ReplyDeleteyes he have that cocky vibe to him but neither gd or kanye west cockiness have ever bothered me!
honestly he is talented & have accomplished a lot so yeah he have reason to brag about it! what matter to me is that he put out songs that i enjoy !
before people go apeshit i'm not comparing their talent or whatever just their way of being & thinking!
GD is really nothing but a joke his music is forgettable and he is a poser trying to be hood while rapping about nothing. Sometimes I wish he would have just been a producer instead of an idol so I could actually enjoy BB.
ReplyDeleteThis Love wasnt plagiarized, they bought the rights from Maroon 5 for the song to use it for a remake. SNSD does that as well.
ReplyDeletelol Back when grills were non-removable, you pretty much didn't have access to your real teeth to clean them. Instead you had to use a solution to clean the grills. So you can imagine what the person's real teeth looked like after a long period of time D:
ReplyDeleteThe only plagiarism case I hold against GD is heartbreaker= Flo rida right round. Also the GDTOP logo. But apart from that, the other cases...netizens are just reaching tbh.
ReplyDeleteand i am telling u u were those "girls" up till u changed ur stand
ReplyDelete3. [+357, -156] I'm a man. I think other men need to acknowledge that they're jealous.
ReplyDelete---> This speaks all the truth.
^ This
ReplyDeleteHaters gonna hate :P
ReplyDeleteOppa keeps rolling in money
He just speaks the truth though. He doesn't say any name, just the ones think "maybe it's my oppars" are getting butthurts.
ReplyDeleteLook at all the stupid/jealous one bicthing about GD here, each comment will earn more and more money for the dude LOL
ReplyDelete"One of the Kind" got raised by A LOT OF UNDERGROUND RAPPERS, I take their opinion more serious than yours ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is the use of sample, Florida and him used the same.
ReplyDeleteYet other idols that act that way get bashed for it lol
ReplyDeleteDid you read the actual article? Crayon is linked there, so actual hip hop fans have obviously been exposed to it and seem to like it. Same for One of a Kind. You obviously don't know what you are talking about.
ReplyDeleteHe's actually not required to prove anything at this point. His accomplishments speak for themselves. And it's true that some kpop idols performance level are subpar.
ReplyDeletei get sj but why jyj? cause bb r so real although ur idol himself agrees he isnt? so who is the joke. the idol who puts other artist down as unoriginal but cant pick up a mirror to look at himself or the ones who do their own thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat BB song lyrics were copied? What are you talking about? You need to look at what sampling really is.
ReplyDeleteBullshit. None of his songs were plagiarized. All of kpop acts American. Go read the actual interview and you might understand.
ReplyDeleteThis!
ReplyDeleteFriend he's cleary a troll, don't take him serious.
ReplyDeleteThis is ridiculous. Many famous producers and great artists often use sampling in an ingenious way, completely changing the track. Just look at Kanye West and Jay-Z. They often sample. Are you calling them unoriginal?
ReplyDeleteSay whatever you want about GD, but there is nothing wrong with sampling.
yeah but i'm really curiouse how one of this comments sounds ...oh well
ReplyDeleteG-Dragon: Man, I could be a sucker. [Laughs.]
ReplyDeleteAre you?
G-Dragon: Now? Maybe not. But when I was younger, just because you like someone doesn’t mean she’ll be with you. I’ve had many experiences when the feelings weren’t mutual. [Laughs.]
When I’m on the rap tip, I could rap about sluts, I could do all of that
this so much
ReplyDelete"I could rap about sluts" o_O
ReplyDeletei think u and alot off bb fans r not getting that the knetizen and the comments here r different. we r talking about how in his recent interview he kept putting down k-pop idols as not unique and amatures and how he is so unique and different but the list above shows his music although i enjoy and from the looks of it a lot of people considering the sold-out tours is just "sample" of others although it is credited. and i know u guys r going to come with "oh alot of americans do it ..." but thats not the argument. he isnt what he says he is and thats what separates a true artist to a commercial artist. he is a "rapper/idol" that make some sample music that sounds really good and sells a lot. and there is nothing wrong with it. just dont push it down on me and alot of people on this page that see it like that as anything but
ReplyDeleteagreed.
ReplyDeleteBIG BANG >>>> JYJ
GDragon >>>> Xiah Junsu
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEUNGRI!!!! (^._.^)ノ
ReplyDeletejealous of a drug addict like GDragon? .. idk
ReplyDeletethere are better korean idols and artists to be jealous
GDragon will make his own Agency, idiot.
ReplyDeletedelusional VIP, each comment will earn more and more money for Netizenbuzz.
ReplyDelete^This shows how bad haters can be. Being caught with "marijuana" once (and not enough to be charged) is "drug addict"? Then so is PSY :c
ReplyDeleteAnd of course they're jealous, if you know how big the "G-Dragon" name is in Korea. Whatever the haters said, the main reason is jealous, not for themself, a lot for "their oppars" LOL Just the same way they did with Tablo.
yes, his attitude is horrible. Many people say he's rude and a b*tch.
ReplyDeleteI hope he doesn't slap his fans like Jaejoong or Yoochun
Baek Kyung (of 1TYM) will always be my favorite YG producer. His stuff always seemed the most original to me. GD, while talented, just seems really uninspired and the constant praise has made him complacent. He can do better but clearly doesn't feel the need to anymore because he knows he'll make money either way. A bit of a waste, tbqh.
ReplyDeleteA lot of people are under the impression that GD's version of "This Love" was plagiarized, when it wasn't. They received permission to use the music and properly credited them in the album.
ReplyDelete=___=
How about you name me a song... ANY song that's been released in the past 2 years by any artist, idol, or musician that absolutely does not sound like anything you've ever heard before?
ReplyDeleteThat's my main issue with him, too.
ReplyDeletei think its because non yg stans keep disliking all the other comments hahaha
ReplyDeleteExcept I dont recall seeing credits for Fly by Freetempo on lies. If they are there show me, because they are practically the same fucking beat.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, he just said the true, there's some bad KPOP acts. He doesn't point the names, just some poeple keep thinking "maybe this bastard said about my oppars/unnies" then get pissed off.
ReplyDeleteIf it was the use of sample then YG would have never gotten threatened to be sued. When one sample, you PAY FOR IT, you don't just take it. If YG paid for it., there would have NEVER been a problem.
ReplyDeleteFlorida doesn't say it's "plagiarism".There's a video on Youtube for you. And YG didn't get sued.
ReplyDeletedelusional Vip
ReplyDeleteya G-druggy fans of course will love his attitude because their attitude is the same as him always rude acting the are the best and mighty bashing other fandams never accepting the truth
ReplyDeleteI've seen that video and I also saw how flo rida got some promotion out of it. This isn't the first time YG has used compensation methods for stolen music. if you read correctly you would see I said he got THREATENED to be sued, not that he got sued. If you sample, companies wouldnt accuse you of plagarism because when you sample you pay for the use of the music. Obviously GD didn't sample, he stole it because if he did "sample" 2009 would have never happened
ReplyDeleteI didn't see agencies lining up to sign Jay Park.
ReplyDeletemehh GD is good for an idol, nothing more.
ReplyDeleteLol please ! Ofc they are jealous cus he is still money maker even they named him gdrugging ,:P
ReplyDeleteIf the "original" one doesn't say it, then what's the matter? And I don't think Florida needs any promotion. Whatever, people just see what they want to see, same for you and me :)
ReplyDeletewoahh that's just delusional...
ReplyDeleteGD =/= Jay tbh..
ReplyDeletebut... BigBang nor GD are really hip hop tho...
ReplyDeleteExcept, YG has been accused to plagarism by actual companies not just netizens. The "concept of sampling" actually involves asking for permission and paying for it, if YG did that, HE NEVER would have beeb hit up on plagarism claims. You guys can't seem to grasp that concept. "Oh oppas just sampling" yeah, if oppa was just sampling you he wouldn't have got hit up on that plagarism account. Korea understands sampling, its just YG always tries to make themselves look original so thet never acknowledge their inspirations.
ReplyDeleteyeah right............-_-
ReplyDeleteJust because Crayon's linked doesn't mean a LARGE mass of hip hop fans were exposed to it. Trust me, something like "Crayon" on WSHH would NOT be well-received. And I did say that "One of a Kind" was one of his good works, musically speaking.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering where all of them were when I first made my comment! xD
ReplyDeleteFlo rida is not famous in Korea. Barely.in America. If it was never and issue, dont you think it would have never come up? Yes, we see differenrly. I see facts you can't see passed your bias
ReplyDeleteAs I stated before, he's certainly free to criticize, if only he doesn't end up criticizing (and thus contradicting himself), which is exactly what he did here unfortunately. I don't see any indication here that he's embarrassed for himself in that regard; perhaps embarrassed of what K-Pop as a label could mean to others who have never been exposed to his music but certainly not for what he himself has contributed.
ReplyDeleteYes GD isn't afraid of experimentation but that only serves to cement the fact that what he puts out is not always good. But from the looks of this interview, he attempts to his absolve himself of any form of embarrassment that he may have caused through his own music, and I still find that hypocritical. Sorry..
Did you read my comment? I said that he makes really good music for the most part and stated several releases from this year that proved that. And I am certainly not denying that there are PLENTY of idols' music/performances are just unworthy to be presented on a global platform.
ReplyDeleteBut at the end of the day, he is NOT above criticizing idols for being embarrassing when he himself has done embarrassing things. It's just hypocritical and contradictory on his part. If he wants to criticize, that's fine. But he shouldn't shoot himself in the foot in the process.
He IS speaking the truth, but in doing so, he unwittingly threw himself under the bus, so to speak.
ReplyDeletelol In recent years, no. Back when they first started out, sure. But that's besides the point that I made.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't a sample...
ReplyDeletewho?
ReplyDeleteHere's some rainbow for everyone to calm a bit down. BTW, nothing can chance the fact that BIGBANG/GD is getting more and more famous internationally. This is XXL - very famous hiphop mag in US ;)
ReplyDeletehttp://mediacdn.disqus.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/398/4536/original.jpg
How are the music videos for your solo projects different from group efforts?
ReplyDeleteG-Dragon: When we’re working on videos for Big Bang, since the group’s more mainstream, we tend to concentrate on catering to a broader audience. When I’m working on my solo projects, I just do what I want to do.
This fucking crybaby. I swear he acts like he's been through the ringer, when he hasn't been through shit. His fans think he's so strong, but really he's just a fucking whiny ass boy. He's had scandals, but all they did was bruise his giant ass ego. His career is still in tact. His sponsors never left, he never got banned from appearing on TV, he never got edited out of shit, his music still sells, so why does he fucking cry all the time like he's had it hard at all? All he does is make songs about how he's so cool and people just hate him because he's cool, which is ironic because that's the definition of VIP's attitude, like artist like fan. He's not strong at all, he's just privileged, so much so that when shit blows up in his face he gets upset and starts to throw a tantrum, probably pacing in his room thinking "I'm so perfect why are people talking shit about me, oh it's probably cause I'm just so perfect". He's such a "genius" at composing, but he comes up with the same shit each album, it's so fucking redundant, I don't know how many times he's talked about being a bad boy, or about how he's rich. JFC. He's really like that teenager that has to PROVE to people how much he doesn't give a fuck so he plans and meditates how to give off that vibe, purposely. He even said it in an interview, BB tries to be rebels of some sort, and that's just so fucking stupid because if you truly are badasses and rebels you shouldn't have to TRY nor purposefully do shit to make you look that way, you'd just be that way. Baek Ji Yong, Tablo, DBSK, fucking Block B, all of them are stronger than GD. Call me when his career is thrown out the window and he has to start over again, because right now he's just a whiny bitch who needs to grow up in my eyes.
ReplyDeletetry not to think about your oppars/ dont be a delusional/pretend thats not gd's interview
ReplyDeleteand read again
you'll see nothings wrong with this interview
I just want to know why he insists on acting like he's a hip-hop artists. Dressing like a thug and wearing milli vanillis braids does not make you hip-hop. "Underground hip-hop artists praised One Of A Kind" yeah, and a bunch made fun of it. Guarantee you 1/2 of that praise was towards the beat. I'm just saying, in America he wont be recognized as a hip-hop artist. No matter how hard he tries, or how many times he says his life revolves around the word "gangster"... he'll be a popstar.
ReplyDeletei prefer he dress himself the way he want it to
ReplyDeletewhen other artist' costumes come out ugly, their fans will blame their stylists
but if its gd/bb, vip/casual ppl will blame on him
and i respect him for choosing his own fashion, he's doing it for VIP anyway ;)
http://youtu.be/M6liO88pir4 The song is actually "Sky High" Not fly
ReplyDeleteBut this article was made by some Korean guy and it's not even in the magazine, it's just online. So it's not like he was sought out by the magazine itself, the editor is close with Korea rappers already, so I don't see it as something "special" simply because it wasn't like XXL took interest in him out of the blue.
ReplyDeleteHe must be a big part of your life for you to give such a long comment...
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll short answer you IMO: there's something called pain and pride-hurting, that is what G-Dragon went though.
And just like anyone else, he started his career from zero.
XXL is famous, and they put him in the "Features Highlight". I think a lot of Korean artists/rappers want to be in "not special" position like that.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Linking a music video does not equate to liking something. Of course they link to the video to show people, that doesn't mean it was well received and you can't trust the comments because they have been infested with Kpop fans. If I showed that shit to my friends, who are all hip-hop fans and I'm not even talking lil wayne, I'm talking Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Wu Tang, Pharcyde, Blu etc. They would laugh their ass of. That shit is not hip-hop and thats one of the things that pisses me off about GD and YG in particular. They keep claiming they love hip-hop and do hip-hop shit, but they aren't hip-hop at all and it gives a horrible representation of it and now you got all these fucktards running around screaming they know what true hip-hop is and YG does it. YG is fucking pop dressed in urban attire.
ReplyDeleteXXL already had a "feature" on female rappers in Korea, so GD isn't in this special snowflake club. Call me when he actually gets a spread in the magazine, and not by some Korean guy who's already close with Khiphop artists as well as choice37, then I'll say it's "special". As for now it's just a hookup.
ReplyDeleteThe future of KPOP? I though GD considered himself r&b/rap/hiphop?
ReplyDeleteLol believe it or not, some people just have opinions. GD is as much a part of my life as you are. I said GD got his ego hurt. That's the only thing he went through.
ReplyDeleteAnd you obviously don't get it. I know he started from Zero, but the thing is, he never went back. So him and his fan should stop acting like he actually had this hard ass time, when really it was a bump in the road.
gd talks in the interview how koreans dont understand the concept of sampling. lmao these morons here to embarrass themselves listing songs he sampled WITH CREDIT. and other songs theyre accusing him of plagiarizing because they use the same damn phrase. lmao.
ReplyDeleteYet, here you are.
ReplyDeleteugh you´re making me want to cuss... stop bringing other groups into this just because you feel like you have to glamorize your oppa. He wouldnt give two shits and a fuck about the things you say for him while you´re making people hate you. grow up people. grow the fuck up
ReplyDeleteits not exactly the same though
ReplyDeletebut maybe theres something really wrong in korea
bcz jyj in heaven song also have the same beats like haru2, but there are no reports or anything
Are these comments serious? And is the hate he's getting serious. At this point, GD can call out things because he writes his own and is inspired by good music. Sitting there an listing songs he "copied from" is stupid because it's not true and just proves how far someone can go and how much time they have on their hands to HATE.
ReplyDeleteSM is manufactured for money, artists sing gimmicky tracks that have the same beats. And may I add, made from people in Sweden who have no connection to the artists. Its just about MONEY.
YG is about artistry and authenticity. Bringing up the scandals? Keep doing it. Because it shows more about Korea's mindset then about him. He made a mistake. But doesn't everyone. People walk around in this innocence while he walks around with his flaws and still says he's human...because that's what life is.
Get a grip people and stop hating. GD will continue to have music in Korea locked down. Idols with just this title and no talent to back it up...take notes.
YG stans are on a roll! LMAO!
ReplyDeleteYG stans dislike any and everyone that doesn't worship anything that is YG. G-Dragon invented Hip Hop in their eyes lol
ReplyDeleteBasically. GD is getting redundant. He harps about good music, but when it came to his solo, he copped out on a chance to shell out some deep shit for some typical brag about wealth shit.
ReplyDeleteHell YG is getting redundant. The only thing new and fresh out of that factory was 1,2,3,4.
If the phrase is copyrighted, it's plagiarism.
ReplyDeleteAnd nobody gave a shit when collab'd with Flo-Rida because the fact that he plagiarized still remained the same. Please remember that it was actually Flo-Ridas company that made the claim, not some netizen. So YG was hit with an official notice, companies don't do that unless they have a reason to. GD copied that song, whether it be 15 seconds or not. I'm sure YG hooked Flo-Rida up with something, as someone else said, this isn't the first time this has happened. But YG stans wont believe it because YG is the best company on Earth, with true artists even though not all of them create their own music.
he's kind of introvert in stage sometimes
ReplyDeletehe bow 90degrees to his senior and junior nevertheless
actually, seungri was the one who arrogant/overreact a LOT in bigbang, till gd and other members felt embarrassed with what he was saying, now not anymore though
you cant judge ppl
Take out the piano chords in the middle and speed it up, essentially it is a replica with some tweaks. Regardless, YG has a history of taking shit and not giving credit so I really don't care anymore.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Korea goes, unless it becomes a big enough issue, it's not brought up. People talking about GD and Flo-Rida need to realize, it became such a scandal because YG might have been sued, it wasn't like people on the internet were just talking about how that songs sound similar, it was an actual claim. I'm sure Koreans see a lot of similiarites, but unless a company files a claim, they make nothing of it.
Haters are gonna hate. GD is the best and he trumps ever other rapper there is out there. Tupac is lucky he's dead otherwise GD would smash him with his skills :3
ReplyDeleteBowing doesn't make you humble, it means you know how to use manners. Kanye west still shakes hands and is polite with people less famous than him, that doesn't mean he isn't arrogant.
ReplyDeleteSeungri is probably to most genuine member in Big Bang beside Daesung. He's the realest because he doesn't try to act cool or be chic, and that's why he get scolded by his members and YG because the way Seungri is messes with the facade YG conveys.
Regardless, she can make a judgement based off what GD has showed her, whether that judgement if fully accurate or not is something that's left to be changed. But as for now, the way GD presents himself and the way he speaks on certain things most definitely gives off the vibe that he thinks he's better than everybody. Which is not the case, he's just more famous than others.
I'm not sure what you mean. In no way am I comparing group efforts and solo efforts.
ReplyDeleteyou're reaching. fat joe sings "with you" throughout the song, big bang uses "with u". damn must be same song.
ReplyDeleteno it was netizens who first made the accusations. warner KOREA said it was up to the composers. hm where was the lawsuit? of course because there is no legal calling that it was plagiarized it must be YG paid florida big! you already have ill feelings for YG/GD, why bother.
God forbid I mention people like Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, and Kendrick Lamar! xD
ReplyDeletelol Guess what though? I know my oppars are not above criticism. Heck, even "I" criticize them for what they say/do at times. Nothing in K-Pop is above criticism and if you could remove your bias glasses, you'd realize that I've mentioned SEVERAL times that he's right, just that he's shooting himself in the foot for criticizing idols for doing the same things he does at times. The question is: do you think GD is some kind of god that is above any sort of criticism? Why do I have to be delusional for expressing an opinion that sheds GD in an unfavorable light?
ReplyDeletePlease, get over yourself. Way to make a jab at SM in order to make YG look better. YG is about as manufactured as the lot of them. Authenticity? 3/4's of the shit they do comes from America, so where is the authenticity in that? YG cares about money just as SM does, and you will see that once he releases his nugu groups. People like you are fucking ridiculous to be honest. You have your head so far up YG's ass you can't even see how stupid you sound. YG is a company, he trains his idols, he dresses them, he monitors their performances, their weight, he chooses their titles, and he approves of their music. You act like YG is full of Big Bangs, when it's not. 2NE1 doesn't do shit for themselves, neither does Lee Hi, his new girl group isn't going to do shit for themselves, so please point me to this amazing artistry that isn't Big Bang or the non-idol acts he has (EH/PSY/Gummy)
ReplyDeleteThank you! You'd think with all the hype this is getting that he was on the cover of XXL like B.o.B., Asher Roth, and Charles Hamilton were on several years ago!
ReplyDeleteThey LOVE to hate him and therefore they will obsessively be interested in everything he does just as much as his fans are.
ReplyDeleteIt all boils down to preference of course. I know that if my bias came out with a hideous hairstyle, that was HIS decision. Don't throw me into the "other fan" category, please. It'll make you look extremely narrow-minded :3
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong, but many of the "plagiarized" songs have had the rights obtained by YG? Like This Love by Maroon 5 for instance.
ReplyDeleteIt's unoriginality and money that produced these similar songs, not straight up plagiarism.
What about Kush who stole a line from Feather by Nujabes? I think that counts doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteI don't know why people bother with YG stans, they're the most delusional out of the big 3 fandoms.
SM wasn't even mentioned, yet you found it your place to rag on them? Hun, YG is a business just like the rest of them, don't put them on some pedestal because they constantly talk about "artistry" or CL and her "passion"
ReplyDeleteThey were created by YG. MANUFACTURED. TRAINED.
And they copy American artists all of the time, so whoops there goes the authenticity. Really. Jeez. You guys really should remove those rose colored glasses.
This is what my korean friends said. When GD came out with his first solo with his flower boy image, girls were so in love with him and at the same time hatred towards him mostly guys went through the roof (very similar to how alot of women in korea hates hyuna). This was the time alot of people wanted to bring him down (even underground rappers were trying to bring him down) thats why people put every single one of bb and GDs songs under the microscrope to bring them down. No other groups music is put under the microscope like this. I hear so many kpop songs that have parts that sound similar to other songs but no one cares or notices. I don't blame him that he may have changed because he was the most hated guy and there was even a petition for him to die in korea and this was before his drug scandal. Seungri said that when GD saw this petition he was crying so much and was in a bad state.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't amazed when I heard it was someone a YG producer knew that gave the interview and did the article. It's a completely biased stand-point and says nothing more than, hey let me hook you up right quick.
ReplyDeleteWhen he actually appears IN the magazine, then I'll be amazed.
It all makes sense...the entire article was entirely too praiseworthy for me to think it was purely objective.
ReplyDeleteim a Vip but sorry girl/boy tupac is a legend...ur comment sound so stupid LMAO..better remove ur comment b4 HATE pp jump on d BASHING bandwagon at U.. peace.. :D
ReplyDeleteBut that's your opinion. International people don't know and have a trouble understanding this but men were really jealous of GD. Before his drug scandal there was a petition for him to die!. Maybe alot of non koreans don't find GD attractive and find guys more like top attractive, but in korean peoples eyes GD is very attractive.
ReplyDeleteRight........So on the one hand he's not really hip hop, he's just a kpop idol like all the rest of them. But on the other hand, he's really lost his touch because he hasn't written a rap about his own deep seated angst or world peace or something. I'm sure haters will never be pleased no matter what he does. Pfffft..
ReplyDeleteand in d list u can see BB haru haru plagiarized daishi dance but daishi dance is d one that produce haru haru for Bigbang...making me LOLX so HARD...ahahaha...
ReplyDeleteYou do know that WSHH is entirely different from XXL where this interview was published? Everything gets trashed on WSHH.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Plus there wasn't any questions on his representation of hip-hop, or lack there of. And that whole "Korean Kanye" businesss was a stretch because Kanye makes his own beats a lot of the time, GD has in-house producers for that, and they also help him with his lyrics, I think Kanye is far superior musically to GD.
ReplyDeleteBecause it's only bigbang that everyone wants to bring down mainly because of GD. You see how hyuna is hated on, well GD is the male version in korea.
ReplyDeleteIs Gangnam Style real hip hop? Cuz all the wanna be thugs really love that.
ReplyDeleteBesides which, GD says in the article that he knows BB is pop. He simply says he likes hip hop & wants to continue to do it. I really hate hip hop purists. It's not something to be locked up in some ivory tower. It's an art form that people are going to take and interpret in their own ways. Get over it.
He is arrogant indeed like tryin so hard to look like an american or somethin. Dude ur asian.
ReplyDeleteLol. Calm down. The wrath of netizens is distributed to other boybands as well. Big Bang aren't special.
ReplyDeleteI don't see how that has anything to do with Kush stealing a rap from someone....? Oh right it doesn't.
ReplyDeleteBut those two claims don't even coincide. If you're going to talk about not being able to please, make sure it makes sense. He's not a hip-hop artists, but that doesn't mean he can't make good pop songs. So, I really have no idea what point you were trying to make...? Think on it and come back again later.
ReplyDeleteOf course I do. You're obviously not a regular viewer on WSHH if you think EVERYTHING gets trashed on that site. Weezy, Nicki, and sometimes even Drake get slaughtered in those comments but bring out Kendrick Lamar, Lupe Fiasco, etc. and there are virtually ALL praises.
ReplyDeleteRead the comments for yourself:
http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhyE991hoUipDAN0y0
http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhw7Izzp1q8yw5zcmv
Are you finished now? your so obsessed.
ReplyDeleteI think so too. While I'm not totally a fan of Kanye's most recent work, some of his older stuff are one of my favorite hip hop tracks of all time. People tend to forget that Kanye started out as a producer and then became a rapper. While GD is produces as well, he does get help from Teddy and Choice37 a lot.
ReplyDeletelol Now where in any of my comments does it indicate that I'm obsessed. I think a few of these stans are obsessed with voting down EVERYTHING that I said here, even though I praised MOST of GD's work.
ReplyDeleteDamn, ya'll are funny.
No, but then again, PSY doesn't talk about how he is a hip-hop artist, does he? But if you want to put PSY and the general comedic value of his video on par with GD's and say the reason the "wannabe thugs" like it is because it's ridiculous, then by all means, that's fine.
ReplyDeleteI really hate people who don't understand hip-hop then represent it wrong. Hip-Hop is not an art form, rap is the art form, hip-hop is a culture. There's history to it, and certain things that DEFINE it. When you have little GD's running around screaming about hip-hop, you get a bunch of people who don't know shit running around talking about hip-hop. So he can use rap, and manipulate it for pop because it's only a piece of hip-hop, but he can't take pop and call it hip-hop. So no, I wont get over it. But feel free to take a seat while I'm still being a purist :)
Theres a reason why his attitude changed. International kpop listeners are so annoying you guys don't even know why his attitude changed and just take it for face value. Esp during his heartbreaker era he was the most loved and most hated idol. He didn't do anything to deserve so much hate. It was just jealousy. So why can't he sing songs dedicated to haters? He even had to go through the petition for gd to die and thats before his scandal.
ReplyDeleteKpop is soo unoriginal.. Its biggest inspirations comes from Jpop, Hip-Hop, R&B and electro music...
ReplyDeleteAll SM entertainment does is create "music" from demos or unused songs, their songs sound really manufactured..
YG all they do is copy off of what is going on currently in the American music scene.. primarily the hip-hop/pop scene.
JYP his songs are complete garbage 99.9% are created from him, the songs sound stale.
You probably are not even familiar with those songs that is why you don't think so. There is a HUGE difference between sampling and completely ripping of a song. Which is what most of those big bang songs are.. rip-offs. i never understood why people like their music so much it is not even that great
ReplyDeleteYeah. I think in terms of the "High Fashion Gangster" shit GD goes for, sure. Kanye has undoubtedly become a high fashion freak now, I think GD has followed in suit, so in that case, sure GD can be the high fashioned "gangster" (relative term here) rapper like Yeezy. But as far as music goes, they were reaching.
ReplyDeleteJay-Z and Kanye West does it in a completely innovative way.. Are you really going to compare world class rappers to some kpop artists? -.-
ReplyDeleteRealest comment on this site, tbh.
ReplyDeleteVips should not come on this site you guys cannot take any type of criticism whatsoever
ReplyDeleteYou are almost as bad as elfs
When Jay and Kanye sample, it's obvious and it's usually a classic song, ex: Otis, everyone knew right off the bat they sampled that song, YG samples in a manner that makes it seem like they produced it.
ReplyDeleteare you fucking serious? or just trolling??
ReplyDeletethen you shinsadong and bravebrothers, who write songs that sound the same or have the same feel for different idols, how creative can kpop get? NEVER
ReplyDeleteI hear so many kpop songs sounding like other songs but no one cares. It's only bb that are put under the microscope because people want to bring them down. Did you know if you go looking for a similar sounding song you can always find one.
ReplyDeletelol who the hell reads those credits on CDs? first the general public don't buy CDs, and second the liner notes are so tiny? what? do you read them while you are in the bathroom or what...jeez. way to call others silly for not reading such things.
ReplyDeleteSomeone already did. Look at that oppalovesme person. And what's sad is that they're serious. That user thinks GD could smash Tupac LMAO! YG stans smh
ReplyDeletehe smoked marijuana so he's an addict. logic.
ReplyDeleteYG stans -___-;;
ReplyDeletelol it's the "concept" that big bang and 2ne1 produce such qualified music since they are from yg. it's ridiculous how stupid and easily brainwashed kpop fan girls can get, and how out of control mainstream pop can influence people's perspective of music.
ReplyDeletei didnt mention shinsadong and brave brothers because they are not in the big 3.all korean ballads sound the same to me..
ReplyDeletethat whiny sound
japanese ballads are a lot better
and i would NEVER compare jpop to kpop. japenese music in general is far superior to kpop.
LOL Wo~w the delusion is strong with that one.
ReplyDeletelol what touch?? he never even had one. g-dragon tries too hard to be pharrell and lil wayne
ReplyDelete2NE1 doesn't produce shit, so I don't know what crack pipe YG stans be smoking when they try to make it seem like everyone in YG is an artist. L O FUCKING L.
ReplyDeletelol Both of their fashion statements are questionable xD
ReplyDeleteLOL you don't realize sometimes general public "hates" on him not because of him, but are annoyed of the things stupid fan girls say, trying to protect their oppas.
ReplyDeletedon't try, fan girls will just believe their oppas/unnies are the beeeeesssssstttttt and will try to drive your point to the other direction.
ReplyDeleteAbout creating his own business, G-Dragon answered, “I think a business guy is different from an artist. They walk different paths. Artists create the best outputs when they’re having fun. And when a good business partner supports them from the side, it creates great synergy. When someone’s trying to do both, I think the music gets bad and the business gets bad, too.”
ReplyDeleteFirst thing that came to mind when I read this: JYP.
K-pop is short for "Korean popular music". Basically, K-pop is whatever is mainstream and Big Bang is most definitely mainstream.
ReplyDeletelook at all the people dislking your comment. ^^ well, netizenbuzz, here's my few cents.
ReplyDeleteSmoking weed every now and then does not a "drug addict" make.
ReplyDeleteAnd honestly... if he can accomplish this much and have this much money while being able to smoke a few here and there, he's probably doing a fuckload better than you are.
I mean, he's out there doing what he loves... what he's always dreamed about.
And here you are... bitching.
It's pretty clear who the winner is. Jealous freak.
Both of them think they are fashionistas. That's the correlation. GD looks best when he's in simple attire, it shows he has style, but when he tries to be fashion forward generally, it's a failure and his fans would never say this because to them, piling designer on top of designer = fashionista
ReplyDeleteYour wrong. korean netizens came up with it first!
ReplyDelete
