Article: INFINITE ranks #1 on Billboard's 'Best K-Pop Song of 2012'
Source: X Sports News via Nate
1. [+156, -45] The Billboard said that the songs were chosen based on the meody line and the overall standard of the song as opposed to anything trendy. Fitting to the K-Pop genre, INFINITE's song used traditional Korean lyrics and outfit concepts, which I think gave them additional points to the judges. It's good to criticize but I don't think it's right to hate the decision outright. I hope everyone has a good day today ^^
2. [+164, -74] Isn't this something worthy of praise? Would it break your fingers to congratulate them on this achievement instead of leaving comments about how you can't understand why they were chosen or how these 'awkward kids' managed to beat out Psy?????? Why are you so eager to hate??? INFINITE's been working their way up from the bottom, and I've always thought their songs were great... It's better than songs that mix in weird English words, no???
3. [+121, -32] I love all of INFINITE's songs

i want lmyungsoo oppa dick in my ass
ReplyDeleteSong was great. Infinite is great. Congrats to them. I'm happy for them.
ReplyDeletelol yeah you just summed up the top comments perfectly
ReplyDeletewhat about Big Bang, 2NE1, SJ and TVXQ songs from this year?
ReplyDeleteThis whole list was glorious. Spica- Painkiller, Sistar-Alone, Big Bang- Bad boy (their best release this year imo), Exid-Every night and many more were on the list. All great songs that were not exceptionally popular (minus BB of course) but still great to listen to all made it on the list. Love it. Well done INFINITE too.
ReplyDeleteP.s ''INFINITE's song used traditional Korean lyrics and outfit concepts'' Really???
Yes really
Deletelet's be honest, BIGBANG and 2NE1 are overated, SuJu is mediocre and 2VXQ is boring.
ReplyDeleteBe Mine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><The Chaser
ReplyDeleteI really liked "Chaser." Their sound is very unique and refreshing as well. It may not have been the best K-Pop song of 2012 but it's definitely on my personal list of favorites from this year. Congratulations to them!
ReplyDeleteBe Mine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the chaser
ReplyDeleteBB also has good songs but The chaser is wayyyy better...
ReplyDeletedon't put words in my mouth!
ReplyDeleteThey made the list (it's top 20 songs for the year). It's nice to see a list compiled by music experts without prejudices towards any companies or fandoms.
ReplyDeleteINFINITE songs was always good, even though it didn't sell as much as the other artists, it was still a deserving song, at least, that's what I think.. ♥
ReplyDeletei kno y all these ppl thumbs me down like they dont want the d too
ReplyDeletestay in denial bitches
more myungsoo for me
PSY gangnam style is the best KPOP song of this year
ReplyDeleteno electric shock T_T
ReplyDeletehonestly with suju i hope you were joking....
ReplyDeleteIt's weird that my most fav from BB is the not-much-popular songs: Love song, Bad boy, Cafe...
ReplyDeletemost popular does not mean best. I'm sorry but that song isn't good and it is probably Psy's worst song to date.
ReplyDeleteIt's Billboard's opinion, other sites and magazines like SPIN, and even you guys can have opinion too. Chill, just enjoy what you love.
ReplyDeleteBe Mine sucked more balls than Chaser
ReplyDeleteBig Bang is sooo overrated. That's why they're still considered one of the top idol groups in Korea.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense.
O___o
It's definitely my favorite song from infinite, and I liked the MV too.
ReplyDeleteNot a song I would personally identify 2012 with, but congrats anyways ^^
I'm not Korean, but they've mentioned in a couple of interviews that the phrase 'Eogiya diyeoracha' is more of a traditional phrase than one that's used in common speech, and that funky sound that you hear at 0:04 in the song and throughout the chorus is apparently a traditional instrument called 해금 (Haegeum). Not sure about the outfit concepts though lolol
ReplyDeleteBB, 2NE1 and TVXQ made the list with Bad Boy, I Love You and Catch Me. Suju didn't.
ReplyDeleteIf it were one Suju's non title songs that they were talking about then I would agree.
ReplyDeleteso proud of Infinite! they have really worked hard <3
ReplyDeletePersonally, I liked the Chaser more, it reminded me of their older style :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know why it's hard for people to accept that The Chaser is a good song. Infinite has been promoting the song even outside of their promotion period successfully. Some groups has to keep going back to their older more popular songs for them to be relevant but that's not the case with Infinite's The Chaser.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad Spica's given a worthy mention. However, their latest single isn't something to shout about.
The list was a bout the music itself, not popularity. So, the outcome's not what I'd expect everyone to agree to.
So happy to see the top comments actually saying good things about Infinite. The song is good imo and I thought the list had a lot of great songs with non-biased reasons.
ReplyDeletetbh i'm disappointed with this song, prefer their last year's release. still, congrats guys!
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Big Bang's promotional songs at all this year. All the members are talented, but really, if this was released by a rookie artist, the songs would be off with nothing. Their name gives their songs instant thumbs up. None of the songs except for maybe Crayon did it for me.
ReplyDeletedunnhate.
Boomshakalaka
Funny that all of the 3 are famous songs of BB lol?
ReplyDeleteLOL no, the underrated ones
ReplyDeletecongrats guys ^^
ReplyDeleteinfinites a joke!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm an Inspirit and I wouldn't say The Chaser was the best kpop song of 2012. It was still very good, but not the best.
ReplyDeleteBut then again, I'm an Inspirit so I'm still happy they won :P
Cool fact! Thanks for answering me soo nicely :D
ReplyDeleteI'm not an Inspirit, barely know the members and I would say it deserves the best song of the year. Very catchy and dance was also memorable. Different strokes~
ReplyDeleteBB, 2NE1 and TVXQ are on the list but suju lol, no.
ReplyDeleteyes. even if I like BB they're overated and some VIPs are annoying.
ReplyDeletesuju should just stop.
2VXQ are sad to watch.
I don't like 2NE1
yes it makes sense.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteI'm not an Inspirit either but yes, The Chaser is RIDICULOUSLY good! It's probably my most played song of this year's releases (even though my favourite group is MBLAQ, oh dear...). When I saw this, I was so pleasantly surprised because in my mind, finally quality had been recognized : D
ReplyDeleteIt seems like it's non-Inspirits who prefer it to their other songs? But yeah as goldenGAZE said, different strokes!
why people are voting down?!? is it wrong to like electric shock? lol
ReplyDeleteI'm not familiar with Infinite at all. I checked the song after seeing it top the list and I have to say that the spot is well deserved. Although it's not my favorite Kpop song of 2012 I think it's REALLY good. It's sounds different from most Kpop songs out there now in a really positive way. It's quite unique.
ReplyDeleteThere are great songs in that list!
Like you? LOL
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteCongrats to them~ (and to the producer)
ReplyDeleteall these songs are popular and were promoted
ReplyDeleteSistar is completely good this year. Alone and Loving You ranked top 5 on almost all year- end- chart including Billiboard , Melon n Mnet. So i would like to conclude Sistar is 2012 Best Female Group. They must work hard next year because SNSD is ready to take their crown back.
