At the end of the day, there really is so little to go on and everything comes back to his expression but there could be a lot of different explanations. I honestly thought he looked drunk first. :P
Anyways, a bad shot would be the best explanation since the picture only shows half IU's face and the angle is very awkward.

it's sad that Juniel being drag into this matter... you know I saw this post at bestiz and i think it's a media play from FNC. cause not only one article from one media outlet this matter is being posted but it's from a few of it. it's sad that FNC using this opportunity to promote Juniel. she's a talented girl. no need to use this kind of media play... kinda disappointed on FNC.
it took IU quite some times too to reach the National Little Sister spot. let Juniel take her time step by step too....
and i think IU still have quite a lot supporters on her side too despite these things happened. saw the comment at iu.loen facebook page, samchon fan, oppa fan from military, unnie fan and even an ajumma fan leave supportive message for her. she's a talented girl so people still love her for that :)

That white scrap of something next to him is most likely a sheet or a side of a pillow, like when you're on your side and leaning over a (sofa) pillow to take a picture (hence, the weird angle).
