ReplyDeletei disagree. the reaction i've seen were the opposite. like his latest performance at the AMA, a lot of ppl says he saved the show or was the best of the night, that he is an amazing performer and that they wish this won't be just a one time thing for him. the interviews he's done has proven himself otherwise.

Well i thinkl HyunA can actually make it into the US market. She has the sex appeal (or at least tries to) which suits the Western market. Look at all the American singers (I'm not denying great singers like Mariah and Christina) but they do focus A LOT on their bodies and sex appeal. :/

ReplyDeleteI don't hate her, but I don't really like her either. Giving Hyuna some credit, she can dance really well. You can tell she gives it her all when she performs. She also has a concept that works well for her. But everything else but dancing is just bad. What would happen if she were asked to do a live performance? Even Britney was actually a decent singer. Speaking of Spears, I see a little similarity. She was also a dancer and both are performers. Hyuna still has a lot to catch up on though cause Britney was one hell of a phenomenal performer. Hyuna should learn to be a little discreet with what she does cause she looks slutty. Yes, I dropped the word! She should take notes from Spears during her peak. Even if she was performing in a bra, everybody just noticed her being hot as a whole. She didn't need to squeeze her boobs together of have unsightly camera angles of her butt jiggling just to show it.

ReplyDeleteI doubt anything will arise from this meeting just because Hyuna will be too difficult to market due to lack of English and talent. I mean Scooter Braun managed Justin Bieber after being impressed with his voice and now he chose Psy cos GS was a big hit and saw that Psy was a solid performer who had what it takes to break the US. Hyuna, I love you, but you are still lacking.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't expect PSY, a rapper, to be particularly good at singing. The reason why PSY got popular was because:
ReplyDelete1. He's funny.
2. He's honest.
3. He's not a try-hard.
That's where all other k-pop artists are going to fail, tbh. They're trying to reinvent their image to "match" it to the American music scene, but that clearly doesn't work. It ends up looking sloppy and pathetic. If k-pop artists could embrace what makes them unique and use that to break into the US market, I think they'd meet more success.
Everyone's already shocked that PSY is refusing to make an English version of "Gangnam Style", but that's obviously the only right way to go about it. If he does the song again in English it will lose everything that made it special in the first place.
