A disturbing trend emerges on Tiktok with students playing 'Itaewon crowd crush' games

The hashtag 'Itaewon play' is trending on SNS like Tiktok, which has become a reiteration of the 'hamburger game' where dozens of kids would pile on top of someone on the bottom to crush them with their weight. The game has been rebranded as the 'Itaewon play' among elementary, junior, and even high schoolers. One middle school revealed, "With the videos getting more popular on SNS, this game has been spreading across our whole school. Everyone would clear the center of desks and chairs and have 10 people pile on top of someone. This game happens every break." Even a high school sophomore revealed, "I was really shocked to see kids at my school playing the hamburger game but calling it the 'Itaewon crowd crush play'."
Tiktok videos show students in the lunch line shouting "push push" in reference to the culprits at the Itaewon tragedy, or using the hamburger game to bully others with. The game already has a dark history, with a middle school student actually dying after his bullies played the hamburger game on him in 2011.
