Why are girl groups more appealing to the public than boy groups?

Article: In a generation of girl group domination, why aren't boy group songs listened to as much?

The post is a compilation of various internet community posts talking about why boy group songs aren't as appealing for the general public to listen to: "because we're not the main consumer target. boy groups are selling the illusion of a relationship with their fans.", "too many songs with shouting, solos who rely on their popularity and not their vocals", "men just don't consider boy groups as real songs after the Big Bang generation", "boy groups specifically target the female market so it can be off putting for men to listen to", "I don't listen to boy groups outside of BTS/Big Bang", "boy group songs are usually produced for visual performances and not song quality", "girl group songs are easier to listen to anywhere like in stores, maybe it's because boy group songs are lower in tone and feel heavier", "boy groups are getting too experimental with their style from cropped shirts to harnesses, skirts, chains, blush make up, pig tail hair, which is a look that's hard to win over for the general public/non-fans of men and women in their 20s/30s"

1. [+295] People are quick to say that boy group songs aren't "public friendly" but they do release public friendly songs that the public chooses not  to listen to because of their own biases, so the boy groups just go back to pushing their own niches... Ask yourself and be honest about how often you really listen to any fourth generation boy group songs before you blame their songs for not being more public friendly

2. [+120] I think people have a certain bias against boy groups, which turns them off from listening...

3. [+180] I have a lot of boy group songs that I like.. even if they aren't my bias, I listen to a variety of genres and enjoy good songs as they are...

4. [+113] Boy groups have so many great songs... as someone who's into boy groups, there are so many undiscovered gems ㅠㅜ people just aren't listening.. ㅜ

5. [+62] Boy groups have a lot of great songs.. TXT, NCT, Stray Kids, Seventeen... I think it's because girl groups are listened to by both male and female fans whereas the majority of fans for boy groups are women..

6. [+50] People aren't aware of how many great songs boy groups have, I sing a lot of BTS, TXT, and ATEEZ at karaoke ㅠㅜㅜ  even getting into Treasure lately ㅠㅜㅜㅜ

7. [+33] I think the point about how male groups do have good songs, it's just that their agencies push those songs as B-side tracks is true..

8. [+36] I think the general public doesn't know much about boy groups unless their popularity as at BTS level. There's also a difference in tastes... But groups like Winner, Stray Kids, TXT, Seventeen, and NCT have good songs. There are a lot of addictive ones out there if you take the time to really listen.

9. [+17] I think it's just a difference in the consumer base for girl groups and boy groups, which reflects on their charting as well. If any one member in a girl group starts to gain fame, the entire public becomes aware of the group, which helps them gain more listeners on the charts. As for boy groups, they need a bigger fandom to begin with to get in on the charts, which then draws in the public. It's probably why girl groups are stronger digitally and boy groups are stronger with physical sales.

10. [+27] Don't whine about boy group songs not being approachable and go search them up and take a listen for yourself 💗

11. [+18] It's bias in the end. People have this bias that boy group songs aren't really for the general public to consume so they don't bother listening to them. There are a lot of hidden gems, though.

12. [+4] It's because of bias like this that boy groups can release good songs and still have no one listen to them.. which only further solidifies that bias

13. [+25] Boy groups have put out a ton of great songs.. but people won't ever listen because they think boy groups don't have public appeal ㅋㅋ
