Coupang Play and 'Anna' director fail to resolve issues despite director's cut release

2. [+460, -18] Coupang completely messed up the drama, left it in tatters... I saw the director's version with the eight episodes and it definitely explored the main characters more in depth with their background stories. If I were the director, I'd sue just as well.
3. [+324, -70] It was a great drama that I had hoped to see more episodes out of. I was really upset to see it end so abruptly. I became a real Suzy fan after watching 'Anna'.
4. [+82, -0] I mean, wouldn't anyone sue if they took your work and cut down the episodes without consent? They basically ruined the director's work. It takes so much care, time, and effort to complete a piece of work like this. Coupang really screwed up by handling this the way that they did.
5. [+52, -3] Makes you respect Netflix that much more. They'll pay for all of the production expenses but basically leave you alone and not touch it at all once you sign your contract with them. They respect their directors. A drama like 'Squid Game' would've never been possible had they had Korean investors instead.
6. [+35, -2] I watched the original run of 'Anna' and then watched the director's version again after this scandal broke out. My review is that Coupang made an absolutely ridiculous mistake, and I totally agree with the rage that the director is feeling. They took a complete, finalized product and ripped it up into shreds, which not only messed with the flow of the plot but also completely edited out screen times of entire actors. I can't imagine how upset those actors must've felt to see themselves edited out like that. This is really disrespectful of Coupang, no? They really need to issue a proper apology to the director. It's not like they have any other show but 'Anna' going for them right now. They should be treating the director like a saint at this rate.
7. [+30, -1] The director spent over three years writing this drama out and contracted with Coupang for eight episodes. It makes no sense at all why Coupang cut it down to six. Who would ever contract with Coupang in the future anymore?
8. [+15, -0] Not sure what Coupang's thinking, especially when the director is able to refute all of their claims so quickly. Their handling of this is so amateur.
9. [+17, -3] The director's version was good enough to be nominated for awards... just amazing all around.. it's unfortunate what happened to it ㅜㅜ
