1. [+748, -46] I'd rather look for a partner for my children in a similar neighborhood where I can be assured of their class as well. The richer families rarely get married through dating; it's all set up.
2. [+720, -43] It's all about keeping it within the class ㅋㅋㅋ Your prince on a white horse will get married to a princess on a white horse, nothing you dirt-spooned dreamers can do about it
3. [+649, -26] You don't think this happened back in the Chosun era? It's the same in our generation too. All about keeping it within the class.
4. [+46, -5] One thing's for sure, I haven't seen an instance where parents introduced anyone who wasn't worth dating. It's worth a shot.
5. [+43, -4] Let's say your family has a net worth of 10 billion won. Do you think you'd want a son or daughter-in-law with a criminal past, alcohol addiction, or frauds as parents? And if your child ends up dying, your money is all going to whoever they get married... I honestly don't think this is anything to criticize, I can see why they'd be careful.
6. [+32, -1] There's nothing wrong with it... ㅋ it's just annoying to hear about is all.. ㅋㅋ I wish them happiness
7. [+26, -1] Hasn't this always been a thing? Elders in families have always set up marriages for their children, since when was this news?
8. [+23, -1] Why do you think k-dramas get so much flak for writing bogus storylines where a divorced woman with kids can get with a young, rich man ㅋ
9. [+19, -3] Ah, another peaceful day in Gangnam ㅎ
10. [+16, -0] I can understand them to an extent. There are so many instances of dating violence nowadays, why would you let your kid marry someone with a past you don't know? From our perspective, it may look like the children are being forced into these set ups, but I'm sure they feel more at ease and less pressured too...
11. [+15, -1] I think it's fine. If both families are rich, it's easier for the parents to settle things on both sides. And the wealthier the family, the more kids they'll be able to have, which is better for our society as a whole.
12. [+14, -3] After 40 years of life, I've realized that children from wealthier families are just always better. It's the way life is. The guy with $1,000 in his pockets can buy his friends fried chicken, let someone else borrow money, lose a few bucks and not care... while the guy with $10 in his pockets is running around mooching off of his friends, feeling hesitant about paying up $5, borrowing money (forget about lending anyone money), getting mad over lost money... Obviously wealth isn't everything but having money lends you a higher chance of having a better personality. I wouldn't want to marry my child off to a poor family either. Why would I be crazy to do that? Why would I send my daughter off to suffer for the rest of her life?
13. [+14, -0] It's not just happening in Gangnam... all wealthy families have been doing this. Everyone stays within their own class... The educated marry the educated, the uneducated marry the uneducated. You can't hide your class ㅋㅋ even if you go on a blind date, it only takes a few questions for the other person to suss out what background you're from ㅋㅋ People naturally date others of similar class.
