"There are young adults nowadays who choose to live with their s/os before marriage to lessen and share the financial burdens of living, but they have to endure the stigma of society. However, it's not illegal and I think that they should be free to do it if they want to."

* TN: Living with an s/o before marriage is looked down upon in Korean society because it's automatically assumed that you're having sex with that person and it's basically seen as a red flag for future partners who would prefer a "cleaner" past.

1. [+877, -167] I think it's a realistic option for couples but it just doesn't fit in with our conservative society

2. [+868, -98] There is not one person who can proudly say that they lived with someone before marriage, unless you're crazy

3. [+840, -62] Yeah but try telling that to anyone you end up marrying, they're not going to view it positively

4. [+65, -0] Having the freedom to do so is great but you need to accept the responsibilities that come with it too

5. [+65, -3] If it's considered a freedom, then why do people who live with other s/os end up hiding that when they find a new partner?

6. [+52, -1] You wanna know what the people who say living with your s/o before marriage is fine have in common: they never disclose that to their future partners

7. [+31, -1] I'm fine with people living together before marriage if you genuinely believe that you think this person is the one and you just want to experience what it's like living with them before going through with the marriage. However, I can't stand people who are living together only for the convenience of the sex and to save on motel costs.

8. [+27, -0] The problem is that men will have no problem living with other women until they get married and find out that their own wife has such a past and they flip out over it

9. [+27, -2] It's fine if the living situation ends up in marriage... but what man would be okay with finding out that his wife lived with another man for years before him?

10. [+22, -0] With freedom comes responsibility..

11. [+22, -0] I understand that it's logical but I still can't help but think that I don't want my own future partner to have such a past

12. [+20, -0] Go ahead and do it if you can tell your next partner that you lived with someone... but you'll have to know that there's a 99% chance they'll dump you once they find out

12. [+19, -8] I don't understand the stigma. Everyone in a relationship has sex together whether you live together or not. So why is that sex fine when you don't live together but suddenly you're a sl*t when you do live together? Couples who don't live together can still go have sex at motels or go on vacation together. And what about couples where one person is living alone? The other person is practically living there too anyway and having sex all night. People, you need to realize that couples who don't live together also have sex all the time. Just living together doesn't make you a bigger sl*t.

13. [+19, -3] Just give it about 20 years... when employment rates will be worse and people can't afford weddings anymore. Living together before marriage will be the norm... Western culture accepts it as perfectly normal, they don't consider people sl*tty at all.

14. [+14, -2] I think I'd be really disgusted if I found out my husband lived with someone before me

15. [+13, -0] Unfortunately, it's just something that can never be accepted by our society. There are more people who would break up after finding out about such a past than people who would be understanding of it.

16. [+12, -1] I'm in favor of living together after you've met each other's parents and gotten their permission
