1. [+583, -38] Maybe the director didn't feel the need to specifically cast an Asian actor. But it does put him in comparison to 'The Maze Runner' director.

2. [+220, -8] Just so some of you know, it's not Koreans that started this controversy but the foreign media outlets.

3. [+42, -4] The lax best replies are so frustrating. People just don't know when to stand up for themselves. The reason there are so many black people in movies is because black people will not watch it at theaters if there isn't a black actor in it. It's because they paved the road like that for minorities that westerners are recognizing that a white actor being cast for a Korean character is problematic. Why can't we just agree that it;'s controversial instead of acting like we're too cool to care. They're giving us Asians a chance for success but some of us are too busy flipping the table over.

4. [+35, -0] Well isn't he the same director who cast a white man for Moses ㅋㅋㅋ

5. [+34, -1] The reasons there's a chance the director is racist is because the original story had a clear premise where the author believed the future of NASA would have more women working in it alongside various ethnicities. The original author also specifically stated the characters were Korean and Indian. This is also not the first time this director has been in race controversies (cast a white man for an Ethiopian role).

6. [+32, -0] The director has to be lying that it's hard to cast an Indian actor

7. [+23, -12] I was actually really looking forward to this movie... turns me off from it now

8. [+22, -1] The problem isn't that he didn't stick to the original characters but because the director is clearly a white supremacist.

9. [+14, -0] He's not obligated to stick to the original characters but you can't help but be suspicious considering this isn't his first race controversy.

10. [+13, -3] It is a bit unfortunate~~ ㅋㅋ would've enjoyed the movie more if he had cast a Korean actor

11. [+11, -1] I think Koreans are more lax when it comes to race issues because we're not a multi-racial country. Americans, on the other hand, face race issues every single day in their lives and realize what a big problem it is... Of course Koreans wouldn't be able to tell the difference since we've never experienced it. I can see this being a problem in American society...
