"Hul.. daebak..."

"I'm sure idols make all that much back and more (upon success) right?"

"I wonder how much EXO cost then..."

"Pretty sure EXO cost even more than double that then..."

"If only five cost this much.."

"Keep in mind this doesn't have contracting fees either..."

"Pre-debut idols pretty much cost as much as a house.."

"I heard that idols need to at least win #1 on a music program to make back the expenses on their album production. INFINITE couldn't make it back until around Paradise and stayed in the reds until then.. Idols who aren't successful barely make enough performing at several off camera events."

"So I guess this is why idols say they don't make money until 2-3 years after their debut ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ"

"But all you really need is one thing to blow up and start rolling in the cash.. and idols like IKON nowadays make their own money with royalties and such."

"All of these expenses are up to the idols to pay back in the end, I heard.."

"I wonder where smaller agencies get all the money to produce idols with."

"It's probably different for larger agencies since they own their own practice halls and such and don't need to rent any."

"SM probably spends double that considering they use big name choreographers and the like."

"I wonder where smaller agencies get all the money to produce idols with."

    I second that~ ???

    ReplyDelete
  5. Which explains why some groups resort to sexy concepts

    ReplyDelete
  6. Holy shit, that's a lot !!

    ReplyDelete
  7. So, that's why Block-B never got paid because of the high cost or the manager and company was just a crooked piece of shit. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  8. and those who hates on MUSIC VIDEO IN A "BOX" ---> this is more expensive than doing it outside.
imagine the props you need and all that shits.

    Loan maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  10. One of the members had to sell their soul to the devil of their respective religion. ...Probably naked.

    ReplyDelete
  11. "I'm sure idols make all that much back and more (upon success) right?"

They've gotta pay back their debt, then the label makes profit and then the idols may make some cash.

And if they're not successful then I suppose they're screwed and in debt.

    ReplyDelete
  12. No worries, it will pop out soon.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Wow!! The cost for plastic surgery is the highest. Such a tough life.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Shits are quite "costly".

    ReplyDelete
  15. Shady business ? There's some rumors about Star Empire and CCM

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well snap, there goes my plan to produce a group when I retire

    ReplyDelete
  17. and i thought buying lunch costed a lot well ok then

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ow shit!! Dang luckily EXO is from SM but I don't think they make alot of money, yet. No..wonder idols are overworked. SMH

    ReplyDelete
  19. the rumors of trainees catering to possible sponsors or mafia connection might be true

    ReplyDelete
  20. Loans and sponsors. Plus they skimp on some of the expenses and cram idols into tiny little apartments that would be cramped even for one person.

    ReplyDelete
  21. i love how 'beauty/plastic surgery' was included lol

    ReplyDelete
  22. i used to
    in monopoly cash

    ReplyDelete
  23. This is why idols tend to get an insignificant amount of pay, because they have to earn back what their investors spent on them. When they prove they can make money, then they can negotiate deals regarding their contracts, that is money, free time, etc. Rookie contracts will always be one sided in favor of the company, but once they have enough popularity they can use that as leverage to get what they want, or the company risks losing them to another label.

    ReplyDelete
  24. And this is probably why nugu companies push their idols to do just about anything to pay that money back. Doesn't make it right and it's still shitty but now I see.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "and idols like IKON nowadays make their own money with royalties and such" alternative to produce more income

    ReplyDelete
  26. I need to familiarize myself with IKON first with such hideous name. But they already be slaying in comments without tasting nugudom orz

    ReplyDelete
  27. LOL!
For some members, that figure SkyRockets!

    ReplyDelete
  28. SM has their own practice room and such so I guess it's more their electricity bills !

    ReplyDelete
  29. They forgot to include the expenses used for digital/physical sajaegi. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Despite everything infinite still managed to be a top group from a small company. Happy that woolliem ceo didnt give up on them and even sold his house to be able to give infinite be mine mv that gave them their break. Happy to be a inspirit

    ReplyDelete
  31. They should have included Damage Control through media outlets because, DAMN!
Some people Like Bom, Seungri, G-Dragon and his best girlfriend "Molly" for example. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  32. Pimping their idols out to the sex industry

    ReplyDelete
  33. I wish i have those money to fix my teeth. Bitch please.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I didn't know he did that, that's amazing. He must have truly had faith in them.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah but what you don't see from the surface is their bank accounts just begging for it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. OMG i can't believe SNSD are over, they can join T-ara now lol

    ReplyDelete
  37. oppa didn't mean it!!!!!!October 2, 2014 at 3:54 PM

No wonder each member get paid with 50$

    ReplyDelete
  38. ow shit. Much respect to him.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well that's why they're working their idols to the bone. If they're letting Luhan sit out of SMTOWN Tokyo, then it must be something really serious, because they usually throw their idols out on stage even when they're halfway to the grave.

    ReplyDelete
  40. i just wonder if winner paid off or it's still too soon for this.

    ReplyDelete
  41. "I'm sure idols make all that much back and more (upon success) right?"

How true is this? I mean would Sistar really be making that much money off of digitals alone?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Woollim's CEO said that he invested 1.5 Million USD in INFINITE's training and debut, they only trained for 2 years average. In an article I read a while I ago I read that the average cost to debut a group is less than half of that. I can't remember the number off the top of my head but it was somewhere around 300,000 USD and 500,000 USD.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Block B cut out some of those expenses by making their own music and weren't allowed to spend more than $6 per person on meals in 2011. The issue they were mad about is that they made enough through Nanlina's popularity and their other appearances as well as royalties from the music sales to be paid back, and they weren't. Also, many of those expenses were paid by Pyo's parents rather than the company, which is a whole other level of fuckery.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I heard she's been contacting journalists so who knows what'll come out of that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. NB, do you mind if you translate articles concerning Soshi-Jessica? I would like to know more! Never has two new articles about them.

    ReplyDelete
  46. With the amount of #1s they have based on digital sales, they DEFINITELY made bank.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Winner had CFs, endorsements and song deals with people like Yoon Jongshin even prior to debut, and of course after debut they sold a lot a lot and are making inroads in Japan (where even flopping is still often more lucrative than being successful in Korea, seeing as Japan's market is enormous). I wouldn't be surprised if they had paid it all off already, particularly as several of them were already partially trained.

    ReplyDelete
  48. A little bird told me that something serious is happening now with EXO - M. If things doesn't end well, it very likely that at least one of them would leave before the end of this year.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Idols also have endorsements. Popular groups, like Sistar, are always invited to festivals and university shows, which pays a decent amount.

    ReplyDelete
  50. EXO debut cost 10 millions

    ReplyDelete
  51. I didn't even have this much in monopoly cash(I suck at monopoly, I know...)

    ReplyDelete
  52. i know thats why am wondering XD plus their personal choreographer works for free : DD

    ReplyDelete
  53. so they rarely have any profit then? they barely cover the production cost

    ReplyDelete
  54. and what happens when these idols from smaller agencies don't make any impact or profit on the industry?? they are just left with this huge debt to pay.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Can't remember my passwordOctober 2, 2014 at 4:00 PM

Wouldn't they actually save money by doing that, though? A lot of these things only apply once such as the song expenses. They also have to pay less back up dancers. They could probably save even more if they let the idols themselves do the song writing/composition/choreography.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yg trainees are rich even IKON member lke BI and bobby with their song royalty and such

    ReplyDelete
  58. I don't think the idols get a lot of profit. You also have to realize with the money the group makes, you have to split it up according to how ever many members there are.

I think most *rich* idols get their money from CFs, as opposed to album comebacks.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Is this from Chinese EXO fans?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah and the majority of them have these awkward sexy concepts that looks forced. Ends up looking cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It's not cheap to have an idol group, but I see a lot of comments here are surprised? Why are you surprised?

Do you think they can just produce things from nothing? lol

    ReplyDelete
  62. no way!! so exo will disband soon lol SM is goindown
    YG will be N1 again

    ReplyDelete
  63. YG's cafeteria ahjummas must be rich as fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  64. but they aren't nation gg anymore

    ReplyDelete
  65. o__O
all the money DBSK and SJ made..

    ReplyDelete
  66. Also when shinee debuted, all 5of them were cramped in one bedroom. They had beds but that room was so tiny and they were grown males already...

    ReplyDelete
  67. so many idols identify as christian.

    ReplyDelete
  68. i think they still didnt get their royalty since as long as i remember its paid once a year (ending or beginning of the year)
also am almost sure winner will be bragging in interviews about it when they finally will get it XD

    ReplyDelete
  69. SM survived the mess with TVXQ/JYJ and that one was 100x worse. this is nothing..especially since EXO is still relatively new and most koreans and kpop fans wont care

    ReplyDelete
  70. I was gonna link you to the posts debunking this rumor but then I figured why bother? You won't believe me. Once someone is accused of sajaegi most people don't bother to check if it's true or not.

    ReplyDelete
  71. i wonder what goes on in the minds of people who insist that bands they just happen to not like are guilty of sajaegi.
honestly, everyone in the industry is working really hard. whether they are your idols or not.

    ReplyDelete
  72. liketheundergroundsOctober 2, 2014 at 4:04 PM

    ouch! lmao

    ReplyDelete
  73. Jessica, dispatch, Kris, JYJ, SM never letting them appear on tv

    ReplyDelete
  74. Bom? not really. Nobody in Korea cares about her "scandal" it was not even in portal sites.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Do Royalties bring in much for instances like co-lyrics writers or composers that have their name after the main composer on the track credits? I'd like to know the scale.

For example considering Empty's charting would B.I's, PK's, Bobby's and Minos royalties be alot?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Quite true in a sense.
The albums and their songs are sort of like an advert for the individuals and the group.
Once they are exposed and seen by companies, then the negotiations start and the real money starts rolling in.

Its like that all the time with sports and the entertainment industry. Endorsements are quite lucrative.

    ReplyDelete
  77. SM spent a lot of money on EXO, they cost them millions.

    ReplyDelete
  78. economies of scale? lol.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Says who the title is still theirs why are you in a hurry

    ReplyDelete
  80. Don't forget the drug scandals in YG. If someone is happy must be JYP.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I've heard things like that since their debut and about a lot of other bands, so as long as there is no reliable source or official statement, I'm not believing in anything.

    ReplyDelete
  82. LMAO i heard YG cafeteria makes really good food.

    ReplyDelete
  83. starting any business and producing any product costs money so these people start out the way all entrepreneurs do? bank loan, go around beg for funding, seek out investors, etc?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Dormitory (25 pyung) Is pyung a measurement like meters, if so how large is that.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Accusations will always be thrown around because companies like CUBE make it easy for them to do so.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I don't think so, more like sistar.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Yeah, it's pretty common. I saw Boyfriend's dorm on a show and their bedroom was a tiny room with three small flimsy looking bunk beds crammed into it. There wasn't even an inch of space left to walk around in.

    ReplyDelete
  88. korea's royalty system is kinda shitty tho. they (artistes and companies alike) definitely don't earn that much from royalties compared to like, endorsements.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Well I hope that little bird is freaking lying because I won't be able to handle another shit from one of my fave groups.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Financially I really doubt it

    ReplyDelete
  91. over? did the other 8 get hit by a bus and die??? honestly, the only people really freaking out are international kpop fans and Jessica's korean fans. Most other korean fans of the other 8 girls could careless and have turned against Jessica..the public wont even notice anything. they will comeback next year with a new album and all will be well again

    ReplyDelete
  92. So, that means its the bloke in the red suit with a tail then? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  93. Part of it comes from C-Exotic. But I can't give you any receipt.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Apink will take that tital soon or GsD

    ReplyDelete
  95. is because YG paid Naver and Daum to erase most of them from their site.

    ReplyDelete
  96. those teaser videos were final fantasy looking

    ReplyDelete
  97. considering how much gd is earning for his songs even when he always writing it with someone else i thing they are dividing them equally among all composers. but am not sure just guessing

    ReplyDelete
  98. Meh, Bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  99. JYP is having a blast

    ReplyDelete
  100. the nation could careless about Jessica tbh. the only people complaining in korea are jessica's fans. the rest of SNSD's fandom dont care and are actually more invested in the remaining 8 because they feel bad for them and think that Jessica betrayed them. the nation wont notice a missing member. its really only international kpop fans that are loosing it right now LOL

    ReplyDelete
  101. Well, it's indeep a rumour now so you don't have to believe in it. However, there is always a possibility that it could be true. Who knows?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yeah, Boyfriend.
What's up with that one flowery costume they had?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Yes pretty much if you write a song the higher it charts and download the more money you will have but first the company would have to take out the amount the spend on you for instance on the case of Bigbang and 2ne1 every amount of money they bring in to their company yg keep 30% and the artist 70%

    ReplyDelete
  104. TVXQ's debut costed SM over 10 million USD so yep

    ReplyDelete
  105. lol alot of them need to get a refund on their vocal and rap training.

    ReplyDelete
  106. True, but I think people underestimate how hard singing well while doing extremely energetic dances on often very little sleep and barely any food is.

    ReplyDelete
  107. most of the idol's money comes from concerts, merchandise, CFs and endorsements. they also make quite a bit from album sales but not so much from digital music sales hence why a company like SM, whose primary care is making money, focuses more on physical sales rather that digital sales

    ReplyDelete
  108. Trust me, I don't want it comes from a rumour to be true as well. If it really happen, I would left this fandom for good and never enter any new one. I would still follow Kpop, but not as a fan of a group anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I know right?
Especially G-Dragon, that bloody idiot can't even rap to save his life!

    ReplyDelete
  110. The same man who turned his back on Tablo.

    ReplyDelete
  111. If then: Money/Royalties do not depend on the title of 'Main composer'?

I mean GD and Choice are payed equally? But GD gets Main composer title?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Haru gets free rap training

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THTFHWL2c0Y

    ReplyDelete
  113. every member was once said to be leaving, so it's no news for me. besides, why think about it when it didn't happen yet? Why spend days agonising yourself, I will think about it when it's done, right now I'd rather wish Luhan a full recovery, so he (and me as a fan) can enjoy another exo stages.

    ReplyDelete
  114. People mention EXO but for their debut, they had it easy... SM by the time of their debut was already a established company. Lets talk about when SM were still not that powerful. Shinhwa, H.O.T, DBSK, SJ. They all had it harder... EXO dormitories were double sized than the ones where their seniors lived.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Just like any other entertainment company do everyone know their journalist are not looking for the truth the more drama they can create the more people will read their stuff look at AKP

    ReplyDelete
  116. As a result they feel the need to empty out their comentary on that subject on every other irrelevant article huh? And the reason on why YG is keeping her out of the public eye?

    ReplyDelete
  117. "- Beauty/plastic surgery - $10,000"

Couldn't stop laughing at this tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Isn't Jessica stuck with SM for 3 more years just not SNSD.

    ReplyDelete
  119. You are scaring the shit out of me :(
I can't handle another member leave.
Oh God....I think it's time to say goodbye to SM. I can't live on this ship anymore.
I thought M had always been very close. So things must be really serious right now huh? :((
Is that why Tao wants ''to go back to the past''?

    ReplyDelete
  120. what is main composer? he can be main producer but usually the order in the credits is telling us who 1st had and idea for this song and who contributed to it later (they sometimes explaining this in interviews). that's why sometimes its for example gd, choice or choice, gd. but as i said i don't think its matter since they are labelled on the same poll when the song is reported to that korean office of copyright. but i may be wrong on this.

    ReplyDelete
  121. They are the worst for sure. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  122. Insert Rap King Minho's dibidibi rap video.LOL

    ReplyDelete
  123. who needs to debut? 350 for a backup performance? one comeback cycle and i would be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Eh, seriously you have no life, huh? I've seen you commenting shits bout YG artisites lmao. Well, that bloody idiot can't even rap to save his life? At least, that "bloody idiot" is much more richer than you, has many fans, an awesome life and oh yes, he definitely raps more better than you.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Yeah but they already paid the news paper are portraying her as a traitor all articles are Jessica he traitor, the false marriage rumor spread by dispatch and other news report, portraying her as selfish and gold digger this us not the first SM use those tactics to slender people who go against them look at JYJ, and Kris

    ReplyDelete
