The reason for Ga-In's sometimes distant personality

Lyricist Kim Eana, in a 2010 interview:

"When Ga-In was younger, she grew up with a lot of pain that developed into wounds. She has a habit of facing the wall whenever she cries, and for a while, all we ever saw was her back. She eventually just turned those cries into silence, and I think that's why people get the impression that she's arrogant..."

-

"She's never one to complain or whine. She's grown far too much since then... Actually, I don't think grown is the appropriate word because she learned to hide herself instead."

-

After mentioning that fandoms of another idol group would swear at her, throw objects, and point their fingers at her at broadcast halls or event performances:

"Sometimes, I grew so enraged seeing that that I just wanted to give up my position as staff and grab those kids by the neck collar to teach them a lesson. Ever since then, Ga-In has had trouble opening herself up to anyone she isn't close with and treating them with sincerity."

-

Kim Eana composed and wrote a song for Ga-In titled 'Ga-In'

Whenever I turned around and acted like I didn't know
I heard their whispers
and when I smiled at them like nothing was wrong
They looked down at me again
Believe only what you see, take only what you're given
Just don't come any closer than this
Like a bird who's never flown, I hide my wings
Like I've never shed a tear, I hide myself
Like I've never been hurt, I hold it in and smile

  6. This is so sad....and I can't believe that some people from other fandoms had the audacity to throw things at Ga-In. How disrespectful and shameful. I'm pretty sure that if the idols they idolize knew about their actions, they wouldn't be too pleased about it.

  7. BEG are my bias group and what other fandoms did is terrible - but there is no reason to act cold to the people who love and support you since seven years. It's probably a wise act that she doesn't have a twitter account.

  8. Why do it to Ga-in? Why not do it to T-ara or IU?

  14. IDK, I saw her in person a few times, during which I was a fan, & she did come across as arrogant (bitchy, actually). Uncalled for, so I know longer see her (or Jea) in a positive light. Miryo & Narsha were very nice, though.

  20. Off topic, but that's a really unflattering picture of Ga In. They could have used a better one.

  21. Now she has older sisters she can depend on like literally. BEG was formed by the members themselves and they were no strangers to each other from the beginning so it's no surprise that they might have the strongest bond of all the girl groups in Korea. This is why I respect BEG and each of it's members.

If it's pertaining to GD, then it might be because of that "One of A Kind" parody and if it isn't, it's probably because she was standing close to him. You'd be surprised at the number of fangirls that get mad because a female idol was standing next to their oppar. Oh and don't dare try to talk to them.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 2010... This interview was given not that long before Ga-in and Jo Kwon left WGM, then.

BEG didn't have any activities in 2010, the only reason that Ga-in would be at a tv station for performances and such would be to promote her solo album which was in October 2010... An album that Kim Eana worked with Ga-in on.

So the fans that Kim Eana is talking about... are 2AM's fans??

    ReplyDelete
  27. This was from an interview in 2010, so T-ara and IU weren't really in any trouble back then. I think.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah. 2010.

I don't remember anything pertaining to Ga-in and GD... If it was in 2010, a scandal about Ga-in and GD would've definitely come up all over the media because she was still in WGM with Jo Kwon.

I do remember that that's the year HAN Ga-in (the actress) said she really loved GD, though. Maybe you're thinking of the wrong Ga-in.

    ReplyDelete
  29. No, way before her parody. Like I say, this is really old. Maybe I'm wrong and remembering of other similar text, but I think was around 2008/2009... She talked about a younger idol who asked her out, there was a misunderstanding and people assumed was GD. I really can't remember well, I tried to google it, but no luck. Anyway...

    ReplyDelete
  30. lol. Like only 2AM fans are at TV stations and other promotional events.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Only Jea and Narsha knew each other from high school. Jea picked Miryo because she heard from her and Gain took the advice to audition for the group.

    ReplyDelete
  32. :'(( thats so sad... why would those ppl throw things at her? it was a scandal or what? even if it was that way, they have no right to try to harm her like that!

    ReplyDelete
  33. They're the only fandom who would have a reason for to hate Ga-in, though. When female idols get hated on, most of the hate comes from fangirls of male idol groups.

The only other male celebrity that Ga-in was in a dating scandal with was Lee Seunggi, and they wouldn't have been at tv stations for music shows at the same time because his album was in January 2010 and hers was in October 2010. Any time before that was to perform with Jo Kwon their couple song(s). The only show they were together on was Strong Heart. Plus... 2010, people started shipping him with Shin Min-ah because of the drama, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho/Nine-tailed Fox.

  34. For those wondering, Kim Eana is referring to several incidents in 2008 when Ga-in was harassed by antis. If you look at her older interview and appearances pre-2009 she acted more childlike and happy with the public than she does now.

    ReplyDelete
  35. No Kim Eana is referring to incidents in 2008 when Brown eyed Girls started to get popular.

  36. http://bigbangkorean.wordpress.com/2008/03/16/it-is-official-that-g-dragon-did-not-ask-out-ga-in/ found it for you

    ReplyDelete
  37. There was an incident where Ga In had mentioned in an interview that a popular male idol had asked her out and people rumored it out to be GDragon (when it was a misunderstanding) so then his fangirls got pissed.

    That's another incident.

    ReplyDelete
  38. she began WGM in 2009, thats around the time they were promoting abracadabra & sign.. followed up the next year with ga ins solo album, which was also a success.

    ReplyDelete
  39. JeA was the one who was in charge of putting the members together. You're correct that she picked Narsha, because she knew Narsha was a good singer since they went to the same high school. She also asked Miryo to join them because Miryo was known for her rapping skills; she was part of a crew/group before BEG that disbanded.

Ga-in was approached by someone from Nega in the bathroom while she was crying because she failed to make it through the next round on an audition program. The person suggested that she audition for Nega, and JeA liked her the best out of the other candidates.

And so BEG was born. Love them. :)

  40. VIPs ....

2008 .- "G-Dragon ask Son Ga In to date him"

Ga in from brown eyed girls made everyone curious when she said that a
younger celebrity has asked her out over the phone. She said sadly that
since they were both singers that they couldn't go out, so she rejected
    him.

However, no one knew who this person was, but during the most recent
star golden bell, she mentioned that they go on stage together and are
singers so that's why she rejected him.

The mcs for Star goldenbell as whether it was super junior or Shinhwa.
But then they realized that both groups were older than ga in.

Then the mc asked "Big bang?" and then "G-dragon?"

Ga in became shocked, covered her face, and admited YES.

    CREDIT- DAUM.

    IAMS

    2010

"Ga-In said, “Jo Kwon is an
idol, so no matter what, I am still a bit scared regarding his fans.
There were fans who left threatening messages on my Cyworld, that they
won’t let me off if we become a real couple.”

  42. Some fangirls can be really immature and crazy. I love Ga in and hope that she will find a way to be strong. It's really hurtful when you know people hate you and they also try to disrespect you. It also makes you fearful. Fear is the kind of thing that puts a knot in your chest. It's just very uncomfortable.

  43. Sometimes it is hard for people to show their emotions even to the people they love, especially when they used to suffer from bullying, depression or whatever situation. Usually, when something bad happens, some people tend to be more cautious and put people at a distance, so they won't get hurt again. Not everyone can wear their hearts on their sleeves. It takes time for a lot of people to open to others. Please be more considerate.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I know that already, but 2008's L.O.V.E. was BEG's first real hit before they came out with "Abracadabra". I don't know the exact reason for her being harassed but I remember that it was mention before as to why she doesn't really interact with people like she use to is because she's traumatized.

    ReplyDelete
  45. ... don't know what kind of men you're used to seeing o_o

    ReplyDelete
  46. ga-in was harassed by a 'fan' back in their fanmeeting in "my style" era

if you see her in their "good day affair" concert she's very open and interact very close with fans

  47. T__T
Tho I knew this long time ago, but reading Kim Eana's interview makes me feels so...... T___T
I'm glad that God sent Kwonnie for her~ really.
Coz I think since Abra promo, every1 always think she's a cold person. But after she met him, she started to open up herself more. At least more people get to know 'Gain' in real person. Include me.

    ReplyDelete
  48. You REALLY think fandoms need a reason for hate?

    ReplyDelete
  49. I used to wonder why she was so cold and sexy at the same time. Besides sometimes she acts like she doesn't care. Like it's all over for her. Guess this is the answer.
