While on patrol, a policeman noticed a female student holding on to the rails of the bridge and crying. Still dressed in her uniform and school bag, the policeman made his way over while wondering what was wrong because it was a time when she needed to be in school.

He asked how she got there, but she didn't reply. After showing her his ID, he took her to a nearby bench. "I have a daughter your age. Just yesterday, there was also another student standing here and I had to calm him down and send him back home to his parents..."

Just as he finished his words, the girl burst into tears. She explained that she was a high school senior and wanted to end her life after finding that her grades didn't meet the expectations of her parents.

Just a day prior, the policeman had saved another male student after receiving a report that there was someone crying at the bridge. Once he arrived on the scene, he found a male high school senior who also wanted to end his life because of clashing opinions with his father. He wanted to pursue a physical education major, which his father opposed. The policeman had advised him, "Your father is only looking out for your future so how about you, your father, and your homeroom teacher take a moment to discuss in depth your goals." He sent him home and got a text the next day about the student's progress, saying, "I'm trying to persuade my dad to talk to my teacher."

He showed that text to the girl and said, "Everyone goes through hardships but good days come after you overcome them." The girl nodded in agreement and the policeman offered her a chocolate from his bag because she said she hadn't had breakfast yet.

While sending her off home in another patrol car, the girl turned back to the policeman and whispered, "Ajusshi, thank you."

After saving a life, all the policeman had to say was, "Right around when the new semester starts in March~April, I find a lot of young students at the Mapo Bridge. High school seniors especially resort to such drastic decisions when something hurts them like this or they're stressed with worries."
