Article that talks about how it's the trend to have celebrities dub for animation movies. They're said to be paid 50 times more than voice actors, with gagmen able to earn up to $50,000 and singers/actors from $100,000 and up. Voice actors are paid in the $2,000 to $5,000 range.

1. [+192, -45] I really don't get why celebrities are cast for dubbing. There are people whose entire careers revolve around voice acting, so why use stars who not only suck at acting but voice acting as well? On top of that, they're given double, triple the amount that voice actors are paid..

2. [+131, -87] I don't know what the intentions behind including IU's name in the title were but I don't really see $100,000 as that big of a deal. The animation she dubbed for had 2 million viewers so $100,000 is nothing compared to the money they made. And that pay not only includes the dubbing, but also the various promotional activities she had to do for the movie as well.

3. [+125, -48] Non-celebrity/company employees have to work till their bones break and still never even dream of making that kind of money. I really don't get what's so important about being a celebrity that they're paid this much.

4. [+24, -10] What a big fu*k you to all the people who take voice acting tests

5. [+16, -9] Celebrities who do dubbing just make my ears want to fall off. Voice acting is completely different from regular acting but they treat it the same so their voices sound so out of place. Just leave the dubbing up to professional voice actors and stop terrorizing my ears.

1. [+177, -22] It said IU $100k in the title so I thought she donated that money and clicked into the article to praise her... but instead I'm reading that she was paid $100k for recording her voice for a day or two... What a joke. I don't think she's worth that much.

2. [+104, -19] What a ginormous bubble... What kind of voice is worth $100k... Their voices don't even match the animations, nor are they that talented

3. [+83, -18] IU's fault

1. [+122, -33] Apart from this entire thing about being IU... I just don't want movies to use celebrities for their dubbing anymore. As the mother of a child, I often watch a lot of dubbed animation movies and they're all frustrating to have to sit through. Their voices don't change according to the characters they're acting out. There are professional voice actors, why not leave it to them? I don't go to see movies with my kids because I want to hear some star's voice, I'm going to watch a movie. Please, just leave the dubbing to the voice actors.

2. [+55, -8] Obviously they're investing so much into the celebrities because they can get more people into the theaters by using their star power.. We're no longer in an industry where you can make a lot of money by only doing one thing. Voice actors need the support of the ministry.

3. [+56, -24] A lot of stupid kids here... Using a celebrity will mean one more article about the movie going out, more promotion, etc. Isn't it definite that the movie production companies would pay more money to use a celebrity so they can fill one more seat in the audience?
