Success for the fandom! - kind of?
But judging by the number of votes compared to earlier articles of their comeback (2,000+ compared to 400+ here), it just seems like non-fans have listened to the song, voiced their opinions, and are done with it/moved on now, so that makes it significantly easier for the fandom to move in and vote up positive comments.
I'll include the comments to the best replies for a better perspective.

Article: American Billboard "SNSD's new song is progressive pop" praise
Source: OSEN via Nate
1. [+424, -202] Journalist, you left out a zero. It's not 1.5 million but 15 million views.
2. [+370, -169] Ah~ My prince~ (TN: A lot of sones chose this as their favorite line in the song so the comments were kind of making fun of that, spamming the rap parts)
- A YO GG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- "Why'd he do that~ Tell me more about it~"
- "Right, right, I'm right, right?"
- "Ah, I'm surprised that was totally menboong!!!!"
3. [+338, -253] It's really addictive the more you listen to it, especially the chorus. It makes you hum along.
- Hahahahahahahahahahahaha you're trying to be funny, right?
- ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹
- But Americans think any K-Pop song that is popular is good
- Where even is the chorus?
- ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Why are you forcing yourself to listen to the song?
- The song sucks.
- Sorry, I couldn't even listen to the end of the song..
- I can stand the stage somewhat for the visuals but the music is unbearable.

Article: 'Music Core' SNSD, cutie 'B-girls' impressive 'hip dance'
Source: TV Daily via Nate
1. [+283, -171] They're really pretty and cool ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ and I think Taenggu matches this concept the best. She's such a good singer and so pretty. So Taenggu Taenggu ♥
- Taeyeon's a great singer but it's so upsetting that she's in a situation like this. I'd rather she do ballads in another company.
- Taenggu Taenggu? Fu*king otaku.
- Taeyeon seems like the only one singing live./
- I'd rather the girls eat and sing live than starve themselves and lip sync
- Did he just say 'Taenggu Taenggu'......
- This song only makes you see why Taeyeon is more talented than the rest.
- Weren't they lip syncing?
2. [+260, -154] The outfits were so cute and they were really great dancers
- If they want to wear cute outfits and dance well, they should go to the club, not the stage
- Yeah, and what about the song?
3. [+275, -201] I didn't know what to think at first but the song makes you hum along the more you listen to it. The performance is impressive, they dance well, and they're getting prettier by the day. What can't they do?
- ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ A YO GG?
- I'm a fan but I recognize this song as trash.. Can we please just admit the truth...
- Is this commenter deaf?
- Yeah I admit they're pretty and easy on the eyes but the song is so wrong ã…‹
- I almost turned into an octopus when Yoona rapped
- They all looked like pretty dolls but the song...ㅜ
-

Well, I can't really hate them, fans are fans for a reason after all lol. The comments are actually quite cute.
ReplyDelete"I almost turned into an octopus when Yoona rapped"
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHAHHHHAAHAAAAA
I thought the song was fun ...
ReplyDelete"It's really addictive the more you listen to it, especially the chorus. It makes you hum along. "
ReplyDeleteto be honest here, this is true, the chorus is kind of catchy.
what a minute
ReplyDeleteigab MV has 15 millions of views?
It has 22 Million now ã…‹ã…‹
DeleteTaeyeon is my princess and Jay Park is my prince
ReplyDelete"I almost turned into an octopus when Yoona rapped"
ReplyDeletemy giggles
ughhh people should hate these girls because they are ugly.
ReplyDeleteIt actually has 17.759.292 views now.
ReplyDeletesaw the peformance on AKP and it was not that bad; in fact they are dancing with passion and all ROFL
ReplyDeleteTaeyeon is the core of the group <3
ReplyDeletesones are working hard.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is there are people who actually enjoy the song, but everybody thinks their opinion is correct and anyone who likes this song is wrong because their opinion is right.
ReplyDelete"I dont like the song cause it sucks so nobody else can either"
View bots.
ReplyDeleteIGAB: 17 million views, 34000 downvotes.
The Boys: 65 million views, 52000 downvotes.
A higher percentage of viewers hate IGAB than they did for The Boys, and The Boys (up until this point) was possibly the worst SNSD song they ever did.
I didn't like this song when I first heard it. Now it just kinda grew on me but man are these comments funny!
ReplyDelete"But Americans think any K-Pop song that is popular is good"
"I'm a fan but I recognize this song as trash.. Can we please just admit the truth..."
"I almost turned into an octopus when Yoona rapped"
the chorus is the i got a boy part right? i like that part too.
ReplyDeleteIGAB reminds me of 2NE1's I Love You. It's like a mesh of different songs, but IGAB is just a mess.
ReplyDeleteyes that song is not good but what can they do?
ReplyDeletework is work.
I want people who say they like the song to actually tell me WHY the song is so good.
ReplyDeleteI mean people who hate it say exactly why in most of their comments, but the people who like it don't.
They only praise how pretty snsd is and how the choreo is good.... what about the music itself??
I love that you are posting up actual comments instead of stuff just voted up. Thanks for that.
ReplyDeletelol the thumbs down, as if 17 million people actually watched it.
ReplyDeleteis that the part where they're just going "oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh" or something?
ReplyDeleteTHAT is the chorus?
. . . . . . what the fuck?
Finish promoting this song and quickly follow-up with one of the other songs on the album...?
ReplyDeleteso ugly people deserve to be hated?
ReplyDeleteWTF
"I Love You" actually has a pattern and a rhythm with a proper bridge. It's not my favorite 2ne1 song, but the lyrics are nice. And they make sense.
ReplyDeleteIGAB... sorta went into a bunch of different songs with "OH OH OH" blah blah in the middle and a bunch of random chicks trying to rap or something.
Many fans said the song is a mess but people expect they hate snsd because of that song? really?
ReplyDeletethats usually how things go in todays society
ReplyDeleteMAY THE WORLD GO ROUND
No
ReplyDeleteBecause they think it's catchy, because they just like it. Do you need to justify your likes all of the time? Some people like the song, is it that big of a deal for you that they need to list reasons?JFC, Some people think it's catchy, some people thing its a good song.
ReplyDeleteI thought Crayon was the dumbest song GD ever made, yet so many people enjoyed that hot ass mess but I didn't run around asking for them to justify why they like the song. If you don't like it, don't like it. But don't force other people to share your opinion.
THIS.
DeleteI think people should just focus on music they love. i love SNSD but if they release a bad record I'll just forget it like "Oh" ( too cutesy) and this track, I'll just move on. Heh.
IKR? they will only promote this song for 3 weeks because in the first week of february they start their Japanese tour.
ReplyDeletetbh those sound like haters that can't stop following the articles. You can hate on the song but their performance has been good. calling fans otakus and saying americans only like it because its popular seems a bit much
ReplyDeleteLol. It's kind of sad you're getting thumbed down for promoting the right to have an opinion separate from other peoples. It just goes to show the mentalitly of the kpop fandom.
ReplyDeleteWhy are people thumbing it down O.O
ReplyDeleteI have seen a lot of people explain why they like it but if you hate it you aren't going to listen to their opinions anyways.
ReplyDeleteAs if millions of people actually watch any kpop video outside of PSYs.
ReplyDeleteL-OH-FUCKING-L
me too, the performance and the song is fun
ReplyDeleteExactly. People are just going to say "You're deaf"
ReplyDelete"You're stupid that song sucks",
If you're opinion is just going to get shamed, whats the point?
sugoii~ many japense fans are waiting for next month.
ReplyDeleteView bots have been hugely phased out, check any black hat scene that promotes it and you will see.
ReplyDeleteHence why you don't see random channels videos hit top 10 every day now.
Actually Youtube revamped their site to make it harder to get views just by refreshing and such so viewbots is a invalid statement.
ReplyDeleteJust like ANY OTHER FANDOM sones are probably watching their biases video over and over.
- If they want to wear cute outfits and dance well, they should go to the club, not the stage
ReplyDeleteXDDDD DIEING HERE. XD
both songs are shit.
ReplyDelete"- Where even is the chorus?"
ReplyDelete"- ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ Why are you forcing yourself to listen to the song?"
"- I almost turned into an octopus when Yoona rapped"
loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
"I'll include the comments to the best replies for a better perspective."
ReplyDeleteI hope NB do the same with the comments of other idols.
lol what a joke. just because they think the song sucks and is trash they go around shitting on the positive comments.
ReplyDeletethere can be people who actually like the song -.-
personally I think the song is really good. and I mean the song itself. Im a girl and I don't give a damn on how pretty snsd looks while performing.
but I applaud their efforts for pulling off this concept well.
some of the raps parts are cringe worthy but the rest of the song is good.
I like how it isn't a typical pop song like their past hits eg gee and oh.
gotta admit that this song is the kind that you have to watch the performance to enjoy it much better though.
what I like most about the song is the musical-ish style with the transitions and the lyrics with an actual plot which most people don't seem to see.
and it's new and fresh! every other kpop song in the scene right now doesn't catch my attention at all.
ppl can hate on this song all they want but ain't gonna change my opinion on it. IGAB is def my 2013 jam.
the IGAB performances lively and nice.
ReplyDeleteI still don't get why there's so much negativity towards the song lol. If you don't like it, move on with your life, why are you sitting around thumbing down every positive post you see?
ReplyDeleteI agree
ReplyDeletecasual listeners wouldn't seek out these articles after disliking the song and ride the top comments insulting people who like the song and their taste. these look more like haters.
ReplyDeleteLike Taeyeon's voice a lot, but not the song... T.T
ReplyDelete"But Americans think any K-Pop song that is popular is good"
ReplyDeletei find this statement stupid
the group has a lot of songs, maybe you would like some of them.
ReplyDeletePreach.
ReplyDeleteWell, even a song that is much talked about for being messy will make people curious. Seriously, it makes their fans look desperate when they brag about Youtube views, even a video of a fat lady falling from a chair will gather many views.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the song is doing well on the charts, as expected for a song by SNSD. The album will sell well. SM should stop the obvious media play with the paid "reviews" by US media they are known to have collaborated with before. SONES should stop bragging about these "reviews" and others made by SNSD stans in denial (I'm looking at you, prophet) because we are all not as blind as them. Both SM and SONES are trying hard when SNSD doesn't even need it.
repackage will be after their jap tour, well is what sones say.
ReplyDeleteLol do these Koreans use "otaku" as a slur or something?
ReplyDeleteseems like koreans only like balads and the boring ones
ReplyDeletethis makes no sense at all
ReplyDeleteI don't like that comment, I feel insulted.
ReplyDeleteThe song was more like a medley to me. If you're listen to it in different part, you won't even realize it's the same song.
ReplyDeleteThe choreography looks cool; I was tired doing it yesterday XD
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one who disliked crayon lol
ReplyDeleteThat's why i think it's stupid when fans care so much about youtube views. it stopped being relevant long ago.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone's wondering why it has so many views, it's probably 80% SONE, 5% casual listener and 15% from people seeing the top music videos on Youtube. I've seen plenty of comments saying "dafuq is this".
ReplyDeleteNope. I don't like that song at all, and the album itself was lack luster for me apart from 2 songs. I think heartbreaker beats OOAK amyday, tbh.
ReplyDeleteI liked one of a kind. that xxx and crayon were... disappointing. I haven't checked out the rest of the album because of that.
ReplyDeleteI recommend Missing you and Light it Up, those were to only ones I thought were really good the rest are forgettable.
ReplyDeletelol as expected from fkn otakus, most of their fandom prolly made up of these fat disgusting nerds
ReplyDeleteWhile I'm not a fan of the song, I can't understand why people are being called deaf / delusional for liking the song? My brother who usually shits on SNSD's songs actually liked IGAB because of its "intricacy, and it's quite catchy" -- his words, not mine. I personally I like its parts and hate how it sounds so disjointed, so of course I get it why a lot of people hate it... but I really don't understand why the ones who don't like it cannot accept the fact that there are people who genuinely like it (even if it took them few listens, things like that happens *shrug*)
ReplyDeleteI having something positive to say.. Either the girls have improve their acting skills, don't the girls look like they really enjoy the song? I mean look at Seo Hyun! I always thought she had dead eyes (not expressive) and she looked like she enjoy every bit of it.
ReplyDeleteI guess the girls are comfortable to step out from the stuff they used to do. If it was me, I couldn't be bother to look like I was happy.
thanks, I'll check them out ^^
ReplyDeleteMy bestfriend hates SNSD but she suddenly texted me saying that she watched the MV and that she now likes them a bit more. As much as I disliked the chorus and how it flows differently from the song's beginning, my bestfriend actually liked the "change in rhythm" so I guess people just have different tastes.
ReplyDelete"Where even is the chorus?"
ReplyDeletewhat a shit reason to hate a song, just because it doesn't follow the standard kpop song structure
Still can't take these girls seriously. It's just embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteA higher pecentage also upvoted IGAB compared to The Boys. Are you stupid?
ReplyDeleteThe song is really unbearable to listen to for some people. I tried to listen to it three times, but I can never finish watching it.
ReplyDeleteListening to it with headphones, I'd say the part that fucks up the song is the little "ballad type" type section towards the end, if they would have kept it out the song would have been 10Xs better, but I don't think its as bad as people are saying. I just think everybody wants everybody to hate it so they can bash soshi together.
ReplyDeletejesus you're all the same defensive fans
ReplyDeleteNB, this is the 2nd time i hear a netizen using the metaphor of an octopus/growing 8 arms&legs as a reaction to SNSD members rapping. is this some kind of korean metaphor for when they find something embarrassing? what does this mean lol
ReplyDeleteLooking at the replies, it seems they're actively trying to bash SNSD and their fans rather than simply saying "I didn't like the song."
ReplyDeleteOr maybe people actually like the song...? "Paid US reviews?" They aren't paid when they are your faves, seriously, I think you just want people to think like you do. EVERY FANDOM that gets high views brags about it, my fandom brags about it, so why is it a crime when sones do it?
ReplyDeleteI really just think you're upset people actually like the song.
so what if they are? i'd be upset at a group of people with no taste too
ReplyDeleteActually, there are a lot of females in the fandom, probably more so than males, try again,
ReplyDeleteI don't think anybody is wondering why it has so many views... I just think other fandoms are a little butthurt by the fact that Sones got more so they are making it a big deal. I think everybody knows how the views happened considering every fandom does the same shit.
ReplyDeleteI just want to know why people are making such a fuss over the views, like real shit? 1/2 of you motherfuckers like to brag when your faves get high views acting like millions of people actually tuned in, if youre not PSY its not happening. So lets not act like Sones are committing a crime or that nobody knows how the views happened, this is kpop.
ReplyDeleteIt means you are an intolerant snob you can't handle the fact that people have different opinions, but if you want to have that title then by all means. Your taste is not the right taste. It's called preference for a reason, getting upset over it is stupid and immature. But, if that's how you roll.
ReplyDeleteI almost turned into an octopus when Yoona rapped
ReplyDeleteXDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
I hated them both tbh.
ReplyDeletenot even a fan but I like the first part of the song...
ReplyDeleteam waiting for repackage album so that SNSD can show them all antis who's the boss...
ReplyDeleteWell... there are some international Sones who think that IGAB and The Boys are good songs... And that Sexy Free and Single is a good song...
ReplyDeleteLmao.
Such a waste because you have to actually take the time to make an account in order to down vote... Lol.
ReplyDeleteThey were just asking a question. They weren't going into a rant about the many reasons why this song sucks.
ReplyDeleteBut the fact that you immediately jumped to that conclusion sort of proves the point everyone else is making about how I Got a Boy is fucking awful.
Who's complaining about the views?
ReplyDeleteNo, I got a boy on my chin, I got a boy chicken is the chorus.
ReplyDeleteAnd so what if we do? I didn't realize K-netizens' word was law.
ReplyDeleteOh, and brilliant call on bringing SF&S into your argument, since that was totally in heavy rotation on every S♥NE's top playlist.
They were both awful.
ReplyDeleteSo we can't love them for talent or personality? Whatever.
ReplyDeleteYeah, there was comment saying put IGAB in a playlist and just let it play over and over.
ReplyDeletesome koreans comments srly..
ReplyDeleteWhat they think of Americans?
I'm not a sone and I like IGAB and The boys. Obviously your logic is jacked bruh.
ReplyDeletefat stupid people with low morals
ReplyDeleteI love you would sound better if it didn't happen and a collab between Bom and Minzy was released instead.
ReplyDelete"But Americans think any K-Pop song that is popular is good"
ReplyDeleteHow could they think like that when ONLY Gangnam Style reached that position :|
I <3 U from AKP!! your comments are so logical!
ReplyDeletei concur. the replies sound more like trolls/antis rather than actual legit criticism. either that or knetizens truly have crappy attitudes with an incredibly cynical pov.
ReplyDeleteFinally, a voice of reason. I hate all SNSD music, but I actually like this song. Can't justify it, can't explain it, but it's damn catchy imo. I'd probably hate their next release, but whogaf? Screw the haters who can't accept that everyone has different musical tastes.
ReplyDeleteWhy should people justify themselves for liking a certain song? Does their taste in music offend you personally or something? It's not like I'm voting for a presidential candidate or something! Some people find certain songs good and others bad, deal with it.
ReplyDeleteBecause they're actually very bitter and negative people who likes to spread their misery to the rest of the world, but in the real world forcing such negativity down ppl's throats would earn you a smackdown, so they do it behind the safety of their computer screen.
ReplyDeletelol, he sounds like me. I hate all SNSD songs for being too bubblegum cute, but I actually have this one playing in my car. Who gives two shits about what other people say, at the end of the day no one knows what you enjoy more than you do.
ReplyDelete"I almost turned into an octopus when Yoona rapped"
ReplyDeletethis comment really crack me up
thank you, people just can't deal with others' personal preference -"-
ReplyDeletewhy did they say that? from what i've seen a lot of people either blaming SM/YYJ for making the song not the girls :S
ReplyDeletelmao that's easier to read romanized lyrics, thank you XD
ReplyDeletethen what are you? O_o
ReplyDeletethe awkward third wheel?
ReplyDeletethat's my favorite part :P someone made an edit of the song without that part though
ReplyDeleteWhy are you even surprised? People have different viewing perspectives and opinions. Some can't bear listening to it; some got hooked up to it.
ReplyDeleteI think she'll include it when it's relevant like in this case. If the comments to the replies are all advocating it, it'll be redundant to translate anyways.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to say what you hate compared to what you like.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you're asking "why the song is good" not "why do you like the song".
I have no education on musical terminologies so take this as layman's terms.
I like the beats after the Yuri and Soo intro. Yes that whole bit until they change the tempo. The tempo change? I welcome it. It gives a livelier vibe to the song, injecting it with energy. Then over the new Oh oh eh Oh with a new beat those sounded nice too. So even with the alternating tempo changes in the song, everything still sounded like something I can dig. That's why I liked the song as a whole.
Honestly, its like you're asking "Why do you like pizza?" Do you expect people to go, "Because the tenderness of mozarella cheese that melts in your mouth at every bite with the mixture of tomato sauce simply sends my taste buds tingling. Coupled with a perfectly baked thin crust that supports the whole ensemble and toppings that supplement my cravings at that said purchase gives my being fulfillment." No, you just expect them to say "Because its pizza and I like pizza" or have them answer you with the retort, "How can you NOT like pizza?"
And then to those who don't like pizza "Oh Pizza is oily and I don't like oily foods". See how people who don't like things have their work cut out for them?
why can't people get over the fact that others like IGAB and SNSD?! I mean, I know a lot of people who hate SNSD, that's why they refuse to like anything about them. and when they bash or talk bad about them in my face, I just try to accept it because it's their opinion... but why don't they try to give our girls a chance? IGAB was such a big transition on their image. they deserve the praise for even pulling this off without a hitch! not all girl groups in korea are on the same level as them... ADMIT IT, WHEN YOU COMPARE SNSD TO ANOTHER GIRL GROUP, WHO'S MORE POPULAR? -____-" ? we, sones, don't force haters or anybody else to like snsd. we don't even care about ur stupid comments. we don't go around bashing ur group, so could you stop doing it ti ours? when other fandoms hear about sones, the first word that comes to their mind to describe us is something like 'violent', 'unfriendly', and like... but WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO START IT ANYWAY? it was never us.... it was OTHER PEOPLE BASHING OUR GROUP. WE'RE JUST RETURNING THE FAOR AND REPLYING TO YOUR HATE COMMENTS... SO GTFO IF YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH OUR GROUP BEING MORE FAMOUS THAN YOURS. -____-"
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with "Taenggu Taenggu"? Someone, please enlighten me =_="
ReplyDeletelmao no try again
ReplyDeletehum... writer, aren't you too much targeting SNSD and Sones lately ?
ReplyDeletei'm not a Sone but lately you seem to focus negatively on Sones.
of course there are fans who manipulate that kind of chat, in every fandoms btw.
as a writer shouldn't you be a little more neutral ?
- I almost turned into an octopus when Yoona rapped
ReplyDeleteMe too.
i guess you like it?
ReplyDeleteyou have horrible taste
as expected from a shinee fan
LOL shouldn't they be proud we're listening to their music? Would they rather us call their music shit?
ReplyDeleteLMAO
ReplyDeleteI wonder what happened to the one who left this comment: " I almost turned into an octopus when Yoona rapped" LOL
ReplyDeleteShe said the same thing for JYJ fans, so I don't think she's hating on SNSD.
ReplyDeleteSNSD're very beautiful, they dance well, I like it, but what they sing???
ReplyDeleteMV good, song sucks
ReplyDeleteNB has always been good with providing perspective regarding idols and korean media.
ReplyDelete
