Article: What's SNSD's new song like? Netizens "It's random" vs "It's new" mixed opinions
Source: Sports Chosun via Nate
1. [+1,128, -81] Ah, how to explain this? ㅋㅋㅋ I was pretty much in a daze.. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ The song is not consistent and it's hard to follow.... It's like five songs are mixed into one song..
2. [+791, -128] I like all of the songs on the album. But ㅋㅋㅋ Yoo Young Jin, please stop making songs now ㅋㅋ I'm a fan but this is so wrong ㅋㅋ the song is so convoluted ㅋㅋ I feel bad for SNSD already thinking about how they're going to pull off dancing with a song like this
3. [+626, -162] SNSD's visual, style, and MV set were all pretty and nice but the song is so disappointing. There's nothing that makes it stand out like their past songs. The song is really... hard to explain. Maybe I'll warm up to it if I listen to it more. But I trust that their stage will look more amazing so I'll look forward to it! Fighting ㅎㅎ
4. [+268, -36] The song daebak sucks. I'm a fan and I really can't sit through the song. Is SM seriously crazy? How can they release something like this calling it a song? I think it's going to be hard for them to pull this off even with their fans
5. [+212, -21] The song feels like a random mixture of several different songs. The chorus is good but the rest are completely different in tempo. It sounded like there were four rappers but the lyrics were embarrassing to hear. Their style is so nice, why is the song like this? I was looking forward to it because they changed up their image but this did not meet my expectations. But I guess you'll never know... It might become addicting after they perform it a few times.

Articles: 'Hip hop girl' SNSD, ranks first on music charts immediately after comeback
Source: OSEN via Nate
1. [+636, -154] It's funny because the same person composed Super Junior's song and SNSD's but Super Junior got the hate for their song sucking but the composer is getting the hate for SNSD's song sucking ㅋㅋ Double standards, seriously
2. [+471, -44] If another B level group and not SNSD came out with this song, it could not have even dreamed of ranking in the top 30. This is the reality...
3. [+391, -44] I don't think this is a song that'll warm up to you no matter how much more you listen to it

Article: SNSD "I Got a Boy" digital + MV to be released today
Source: TV Report via Nate
1. [+387, -17] There are five songs within one song
2. [+346, -42] Well it's definitely... different... I wonder what they expected of SNSD when they chose this song as the title track. It was a misdecision.... Maybe we'll get used to it... haha.....
3. [+312, -125] I really love SNSD but this song is seriously nothing but trash. I tried so hard to last through a minute until I just turned it off. This is not something to hate on SNSD for but the ba$tards that made the song. I'm sure everyone recognizes them as Korea's #1 group but this song is seriously trash ㅠㅠ

For once, I really feel back for Suju...
Others song are all good except 2 hip hop songs , Snsd , why??????!!!!! I'm in love romantic street , it's hard to understand their title song
ReplyDeletemy thought after the song ended

"1. [+387, -17] There are five songs within one song"
The song sounds like it has dissociative identity disorder, bipolar disorder, AND epileptic seizures. I could listen to the song in parts but meshed together, I was like "WTF is this?" the entire time. The visuals and the choreography is fine but the song is pretty bad. But, it's SNSD and everything they touch turns to gold so it'll still hit "daebak" in terms of sales.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, don't think that should've gone this "use foreign producers" route. They're erasing SNSD's color that retains the Korean sound in their music. This is a step in all the wrong directions.
Hanna totally agree the song sucks!!!!
Deleteplease return to Genie era.
ReplyDelete1. [+387, -17] There are five songs within one song
ReplyDelete^^^^^^^ THIS. Everything I've heard in that song, in one sentence.
i guess the rating on melon already reflected the general views to their album: 2.7/5
ReplyDeletePoor the girls. Even the concept ho ho ho. So 2NE1 + f(x) + 4minute. SISTAR19 will kick them IGAB from music chart ASAP.
ReplyDeleteit's like 'hey you guys got on a hiatus for a year, let's mash up alot of songs in i got a boy!' GENIUS
ReplyDeleteI love SNSD but IGAB was really disappointing, every other other song on the album is better than it. Poor choice for a title track imo.
ReplyDeleteI only like the chorus (and it has the beat like Crayon...), the style are really nice and they all look pretty esprcially Sooyoung, but the song just...........
ReplyDeleteSame, netizens, same.
ReplyDelete1. [+636, -154] It's funny because the same person composed Super
ReplyDeleteJunior's song and SNSD's but Super Junior got the hate for their song
sucking but the composer is getting the hate for SNSD's song sucking ㅋㅋ

So true!
well, i agree with all of those comments above tbh. i like them.. but it just the song.... x_x
ReplyDeletebut visually they all look gorgeoussss, except for sunny's hair. it look like a bird just shit on it, especially when it's green. but yeah, they all still look fine
ReplyDeletei agree the song is just to much! its been sad so many times already, but really it does feel like i'm listening to 5 song at once...sm has been doing this kinda music a lot lately and i can't stand, its like their trying to make a new trend or something? :(
ReplyDelete3. [+626, -162] SNSD's visual, style, and MV set were all pretty and nice but the song is so disappointing. There's nothing that makes it stand out like their past songs. Agree with this^ watching live stream right now!!
well i hope you already got the message sm.
ReplyDelete'This song Daebak sucks' has to be my fav phrase in a while HAHA
ReplyDeleteikr T.T
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan but Genie is their best song to date
ReplyDelete[+636, -154] It's funny because the same person composed Super Junior's song and SNSD's but Super Junior got the hate for their song sucking but the composer is getting the hate for SNSD's song sucking ㅋㅋ Double standards, seriously
ReplyDeleteSO TRUE
in any case it's all the composer's fault
"2. [+471, -44] If another B level group and not SNSD came out with
ReplyDeletethis song, it could not have even dreamed of ranking in the top 30. This
is the reality..."
SERIOUSLY. This is true for all the music SM comes out with. I have no idea how their groups are so popular when their music is so shitty all the time
lol let me guess who are your biases...
DeleteThe album rating on Melon is only 2.7 now, even lower than Huyna's, just because of the title song, I think they should choose "Express 999" as the title song T.T
ReplyDelete2. [+471, -44] If another B level group and not SNSD came out with this song, it could not have even dreamed of ranking in the top 30. This is the reality...
ReplyDeleteThis so much..
YYJ/SM keeps this shit up they can expect snsd's downfall. Not sure how this could be played on the radio or in public without people going "wtf"..
I like it. Its a strong dance. And at points, a strong song. I think they should have just made 5 songs from this. I think the main chorus 'I got a boy... blah blah' could have been made into a really good strong song. But no they decided to jam too many ideas together. Its messy. Very messy
ReplyDeleteone time is enough..if i really like the song i really play it so many time.
ReplyDeleteThis could go for all big 3 companies lol.
ReplyDeleteexactly !
Deletei love snsd but the album is pure trash
ReplyDeletei hate the song not so much because it doesn't sound good, but because it could sound good. if it weren't for sm's composers trying to pass off a mash-up as a coherent song. if this is their way of setting up musical trends, sorry but no this is an epic fail.
ReplyDeleteI Got A Boy was hard to follow. I liked the beginning and the chorus but the rest was very..meh. I wished they just stick to one style in that ones.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of the album was good imo, I did enjoy the album, just not the title song
i hated the MV more than the song damn i wanna hurl
ReplyDeleteI wondered what the reviews would be if other groups released this as their title song instead.. popular songs nowadays are all about catchphrases.. it's not bad just that the lyrics become meaningless... cnblue and big bang's songs are better imo...
ReplyDeleteIs it just me but I find the song so long... I think if they cut down the number of songs within the song to say 2 or even 3 it would sound so much better..
ReplyDeleteat least korean netizens look like they know what a bad song is when they hear one. i think international fans are delusioning themselves into believing that this is a good song, and saying it's a 'catchy mess'. seriously? i mean, the chorus is catchy, but the rest of the song is just horrible. what the heck was sm thinking?
ReplyDeleteThey should just release one complete song and not mix... I can't get the song in my head like seriously... I liked the beginning part of the song before the tempo and the flow was cut...
ReplyDeleteAm i the inly one whi really likes i got a boy...?
ReplyDeleteI mean sure at some parts i got a boy sounds weird but i really like the song and i'm not even a snsd fan ( well i do not know if i'm an snsd fan myself because i barely know something about them even though i like their music) especially the part between 2:19 to 3:39 really the best part of the song
P.s i do not understand yyj? Since sherlock he always mix his songs (this is sometime really annoying even if i like the songs) sherlock, twinkel and now i got a boy are like this
First i hated the song , but i really liked the mv , their style and everything
ReplyDeleteafter repeating several times i actually got used to the transitions in the song, and i pretty like it now
ppl say sm songs become weird , but for me from the beginning i found almost all sm artists main tracks weird , but i like them all *blame me for my taste*
Overall i would have liked they made Look At Me their title track it sound sooooo goood for me
its like a bad Version oh Bohemian Rhaspody...
ReplyDelete"The song sounds like it has dissociative identity disorder, bipolar disorder, AND epileptic seizures."
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAH LOL. But so accurate.
I feel like the only person on the planet that liked the song from the get-go, lol. Everyone else is like "this song is a mess", "this song is a hot mess", " this song has a personality disorder", but I was over here in my corner like, "This is my jam!" I was a little thrown off at the beginning by the SooYul rap because we hadn't heard that beat before, but I was into it and I'm super impressed with the dance. Wanted to see a little more Jessica and Hyoyeon though.
ReplyDeletei liked it but it but it reminded me of bohemian raspody by Queen thats all but not a carefully constructed version.
ReplyDeleteWtf. Why do ppl keep on saying this shit?
DeleteBohemian raphsody XD XD XD XD XD
DeleteI disagree. jyp's title tracks are pretty catchy. Tell Me alone is better than anything sm has ever come out with.
ReplyDeleteyg's stuff in recent years are a hot mess, but I liked their old stuff. 2ne1's first mini album is still one of my favs.
Meanwhile B level groups with pretty good songs are underrated. SNSD's other songs on the album sound great but this title track...ehhh
ReplyDeleteI actually really like it (the I got a Boy parts are my favorite, I could do without the beginning lol). I'm just worried if it flops and SME forces them to start waving the lollipops again ugh I hate cutesy!SNSD.
ReplyDeleteits like Bohemian raspody but only that for Queen it works they kept the structure together and the beats together whilist this one loud and and off beat and can cause ones epiletic fit.
ReplyDeletebut non the less supporting them!
[+471, -44] If another B level group and not SNSD came out with this song, it could not have even dreamed of ranking in the top 30. This is the reality...
ReplyDeleteSO TRUE TBH
the song sucks, there's no flow at all~ making me confused
only baby maybe is worth it duh
that's the importance of being from a big company. sm groups are popular not because of their music.. but because they're from sm. look at how their groups have fanbases even before they debut. these people are stanning a company lol
ReplyDeleteIts f(x) with 9 members. Lol. The song is just horrible. I think they had lots of idea and just decided to mash it all up
ReplyDeletetheir visual help them lol
ReplyDeletethis is a trash song that takes an equally trash group to sing and its perfect for them
ReplyDeleteeh they're cute but nothing spectacular.
ReplyDeleteeven igab lyrics is so meh idk what sm thinking about
ReplyDeleteactually that rating isn't just for the title song. Express 999 and XYZ are good (same situation of The boys / Trick / Oscar), but the rest of the album is just filler.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how SKorea would deal if Girls Aloud was a Korean girl group lol. They're a critically-acclaimed group but I don't think the UK ever quite knew how to deal with them, that's why they didn't really have a consistent string of #1 hits. So imagine if they were Korean haha.
ReplyDeleteBiology is my favorite song ever but SK would probably hate it lol.
Yes, but I think people rate it low mostly because of the title song...
ReplyDeleteI like Dancing Queen a lot, but I do not like the song "I got a boy" the video and the girls look stunning, but the song does not make me wanna listen to it again, and I got a boy will not end up on my phone either.
ReplyDeleteMaybe once it has been remixed by Areia then it's worth listening. Same with "The Boys" I dont like the original song but the Areia remix I love.
I really wanted to like this song, the teaser sounded really promising :/ maybe it'll grow on me.
ReplyDeleteI like the dance though, YoonA's rap and Seohyun works the dance and her vocals from debut have really improved :D
Genie, Ohh, and Gee, plus their Japanese album is what I like the most.
ReplyDeleteseriously sm should do better...this song is not it!
ReplyDeleteIf only they stick with the first beat or atleast the I got a boy beat part this song would've been epic. Why did they do this? It's such a waste.
ReplyDeleteSM should be thankful they are SNSD. Or else, this song would flopping HARD.
lol..so true..
ReplyDeleteUsually I totally disregard netizens when it comes to SM because they are always blinding praising them but this time I wholeheartedly agree. The song is terribad.
ReplyDeleteTbh, most of their songs pre-hoot were pretty good.
ReplyDeleteseriously I need to say this . there was a problem with the song AND the mv
ReplyDeletethe song : shitty, messy,no room to relax BUT extremely promising . I felt it had a personnality disorder and they are right it's like 5 songs in one . It's too bad I love the beginning and the "I got a boy " part .
MV : I have nothing to say about the quality and all the girls were sooo pretty . However I don't understand what Snsd is trying to do . They are cute , badass and musical singers (?) . I feel like they mixed everything so that everyone would be satisfied . People who like the cute snsd will have some part , etc ... Why can't they stick to one concept ?
And I don't know if it's me but the drama part is totally out of place . there wasn't enough room for the drama story O_O . And seriously how can we show a man fix the shoes of a 24 years old girl ? I think Snsd is too old for these stuff .
Last word seohyun fire your stylist . Your outfit during thr street dance is totally awful
I have to say that the dance is amazing and that Yuri Sooyoung and Taeyon totally owned the video
IMO their Japanese album was the best, almost all songs where great, they should have made a Korean version out of some of them.
ReplyDeleteI've watched the live performance of IGAB..
ReplyDeleteIt made the so called "5 in 1 song" didn't feel weird at all in my ears..
the album? the whole album?
ReplyDeleteare you even listening to the other songs of the album or just based on IGAB? hmmm...
because it's the kind of song that you would usually hear on dance performances. it's a mash-up, that's why. dance performances don't have to rely on one song, they can just mash-up several songs that fit their choreo.
ReplyDeletewhile that's nice and all, yoo young jin should keep in mind that performances should fit the song, not the other way around.
I'm just wondering, did the lyrics of "I Got A Boy" did any justice to SNSD?
ReplyDeletewatch the live! may change minds lol
ReplyDeleteI like Genie too
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've seen a few of the fan rearrangements that seem to flow a lot better. I agree that they could probably do without or change the placement of a few parts - random Taeny interlude for example, and maybe Jessica's solo at the end even though she sounded great - but this is what we got, and I'm not gonna let everyone else's negativity stop me from dancing my ass off to it, lol.
ReplyDeleteThis exact thing happened to me with The Boys. I loved it while everyone else was projectile vomiting lol. I'm just glad to get as far away as possible from songs like Oh, to be honest.
I don't get it. After Gee I disliked all songs from GG. "I got a Boy" is the first song I liked after a long time.
ReplyDeletethat's the average score. they rated all the songs.
ReplyDelete"The song is not consistent and it's hard to follow.... It's like five songs are mixed into one song.." exactly what i thought
ReplyDeleteEverything is a mess. The song, the video, the dance. Really horrible. The video gives me a headache. Too much going on, too much color. YG videos are colorful, but they know how to keep restraint and keep the video pleasing to the eyes. This is just too much.
ReplyDeleteikr??? everyone was surprised with the teaser and even son non fans said they like what they were hearing.. but SM had to give them a messy song and all went to shit.
ReplyDeleteI hope this flop and that teach SM to don't give their idols trash songs.
I-Sones are coming to dislike the not-praising comments..................
ReplyDeletethe comments starting by "i love SNSD but" always make me laugh because it's so obvious that haters are gathered to bash here and on Nate !
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard "Ey yo GG!" I wanted to vomit. Wtf. O_O that was just weird.
ReplyDeleteLol at confused sones. The delusional ones are the worst tho. Giving bs excuses and shit. Stop trying to fool yourselves. This song is downright bad.
daebak sucks
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you can use daebak in such a manner. Doesn't daebak mean Big Win or something?
JYP tracks are catchy!???? please! WG, 2PM, and Miss A are the only ones who get decent tracks, and even THEY only get one or 2 good songs while the rest and generic recycled crap. WG and Miss A's releases last year were beyond pathetic and useless. it was only their debut and follow up songs that did well..aside from that the rest was a mess...and dont get me started on 2pm.
ReplyDeleteYG is too obsessed with their American music and having their singers pretend to be Lady gagas and nicki minajs that they look like nothing but copy cats..
SM's songs can be a hit or a miss. GG had many great songs before 2011, TTS had a great comeback with Twinkle, Shinee's songs have always been fabulous, and TVXQ's songs are unmatchable when it comes to quality. Then there is BoA and her stunning comeback song last year.
the only ones who struggle at SM is SUJU since SM knows that their fans will just buy anything they release. the problem is nowadays SM seems to be applying the same kind of thinking to SNSD as well since the girls have gotten so popular that pple will just buy their music no matter what
I thought hoot was pretty good. The only song I didn't like was Run Devil Run.
ReplyDeletei totally agree with u. the one thing that SM is great at is taking foreign songs and remaking them into korean songs. they know how to do and make the song become distinctly korean, like they did with Mirotic and Run Devil Run. YYJ is a great producer but recently his songs are becoming ridiculous! someone needs to tell him that he should stop trying to mix gazillion songs into one track and think its cool
ReplyDeleteI thought run devil run is song by ke$ha before SNSD sang it? It's not that korean...
DeleteI love Genie too and TBH IGAB can be fun when snsd is performing.
ReplyDeletewww.youtube.com/watch?v=FAg3swnAHyA
Genie was the best era ...
ReplyDelete"The song daebak sucks" Lol XD it totally made my day !!
lol they aint mixed opinions. album is already getting piss poor reviews from pretty much everybody, just look at melon
ReplyDeleteI bet SM will still give SJ, SNSD, DBSK, EXO, shinee and f(x) crap songs.
ReplyDeleteThey should learn from YG how to make a catchy song.
even fans don't like it and they are hating SM like they were JYJ fans. srly, how can SM give such a crappy song to their cash cow group? D:
ReplyDeleteit's suecide
IGAB honestly has got to be one of the worst songs I've ever heard. I know that sounds horrible, but while watching it and listening, all I could think was just, 'what a mess'. It sucks b/c I was really excited when I saw the dance teaser-besides the atrocious outfits- and I've only ever liked two snsd songs.
ReplyDeleteI never ever want to hear that song again, nor will I be watching the live performances. I don't know why but the song is just grating to my ears. Terrible, just terrible. I feel like a b*tch saying that, but I just- was there no one in that company that told them how awful that song is? I just don't understand it.
lets look forward to the repackage lol. I didn't like the song at first but it has really grown on me. Its still one of their worst title tracks but I don't hate it
ReplyDeletelol calm down sm stan. I personally think all their songs are loud, overproduced messes. I can't stand any of their SMP genre.
ReplyDelete"WG, 2PM, and Miss A are the only ones who get decent tracks"
dude.. that's like pretty much their major artists. Everything wondergirls did pre-USA debut >>>>>> anything SM has ever released
there's a reason why SM artists NEVER top digital charts (with the exception of snsd). Their singles are shit. It's fine to worship that company, but at least admit that they are lazy as f*ck about their music. Look at how half-assed their MVs are compared to the rest of kpop. oh and btw, this is the company that earns the most in kpop. I don't understand how their fans defend them so much when they obviously don't care about the fans.
at least they got a different boxes for all the parts of IGaB
ReplyDeleteIt actually sounded pretty alright to me. However, the problem with too many changes in the melody is that it may cause audience to forget the whole song in the end. After I listened to the whole song, I failed to recall any parts of the song, Maybe the last part. And I remembered myself saying 'This song is great!' when I first played the song. I may have a short memory span though.
ReplyDeleteThis is why SNSD are getting boring to me. I still love some of the members, especially Taeyeon because she's really talented. But the fact that literally any song they release will do well on the charts has gotten really boring. Just like it happened with "The Boys" I see many SONES forcing themselves to like the song ("I didn't like it first time I heard it but now that I replayed it many times I liked it"). I used to not have to listen to their songs 100 times in order to like them after brainwashing myself.
ReplyDeleteLoving the comment about SuJu vs SNSD. I don't like SuJu but it's true that there is a double standard for korean public that benefits girl groups. Even a Soshi song that is not liked by most (like IGAB) will do well on the charts but any, literally any song by SuJu or TVXQ will be met with "eww, boy band" reactions by the public.
Their Japanese album really was amazing :)
ReplyDeleteOh look at the totally unbiased YG stan.
ReplyDeleteYG hasn't had a catchy song last year except for Gangnam Style
ReplyDeleteFantastic Baby doesn't count, it was just repetitive noise.
cant believe every parts of this song is in ONE song =_____= it's kinda hard for me to put it inside my brain as A song LOL but it's kinda catchy too.....
ReplyDeletetbh the teaser sounds better from the original song, i like that part the most! :D
Korea couldn't handle the flawlessness of Girls Aloud.
ReplyDeleteTheir music has been terrible for years now. Actually, the same can be said for most SM releases. They really need to get it together and put SOME effort. It's like they know the fans will buy their shit anyway to support their unnies and oppas so why bother?
ReplyDeleteThe songwriter for SM must been on drugs when he wrote this song...
ReplyDeletei notice
ReplyDeleteMTE. International fans are all "OMG, this song is amazing!" and I'm sitting here thinking "this doesn't even sound like a song. What's the chorus? Is there a climax? Why does it keep changing?!" It's just weird. :/
ReplyDeleteBut the rest of the album is good, soo.... At least there's that.
i died laughing
ReplyDeleteThey've gone downhill since Oh!, imo.
ReplyDeletetrue this. FB was not even a catchy song
ReplyDeleteCan someone explain to me why Sooyoung, Yuri, and Tiffany are suddenly "rappers"???
ReplyDeleteOmfg.
I had flashbacks of the Jewelry's "Look at Me" teaser with Baby J's rap for the beginning of the MV and I laughed... SNSD... Don't ever rap. Ever. Again.
Tiffany has a great singing voice... Girl, stick to singing.
every comment is talking shit about the song. their fans hate the song too.
ReplyDeletethey will promote this song for only 3 weeks.
ReplyDeleteSM and whoever wrote those articles must be on crack if they think that prancing around in sneakers makes their new concept "hip hop".
ReplyDeleteLMAO.
Terrible song. It was like... three f(x) songs and a TaeTiSeo song right in the middle. I don't know if SM is trying to rewrite the book on how songs should sound, but they failed in every way.
The only great part about their new song is that the choreography is a fuckload more interesting than all of their other songs, barring Into the New World.
Ugh.
it's a mish mash of a bunch of songs fx threw away, basically..
ReplyDeleteNo. It still sounds like shit.
ReplyDeleteChoreo is cool. Actual song... I wouldn't listen to it more than once if I could help it.
it sound better and it seems like they are showing some charisma.
ReplyDeleteOne of the worst songs I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect that, cool
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty good. Maybe they mashed up all diff ver of those songs cause they can't pick one lol
ReplyDeleteIt's the type of song you need to watch the performance to warm up to but I doubt casual fans would bother tho.
ReplyDeleteJudging it base on the song quality, it's still...really patchy.
Everyone is right, to a certain extent: the song is a mess, and it does sound like 5 songs combined into one with absolutely no sense of form at all. And I understand completely where K-netizens are coming from.
ReplyDeleteBut the song doesn't suck. Sooyoung herself has said that the song is something that will show the public that SNSD isn't just a 'one-genre' kind of girl group, that they're capable of pushing boundaries and establishing new music trends.
And I love that about SNSD, that they themselves don't want their fans to be stuck in one category of music, and this honestly opens my mind about the type of music Kpop is heading towards.
2013 is a new year, let's push forward and embrace this new change. :)
Your bias is showing. I like sooyoung but if they're good with one concept its better to stay with that for a while and then began on some other. Honestly IMO nobody is going to make the same type of music as this. Its hard to keep up with the song. SM needs to realize just because people like their artist dorsny mean that everyone is going to give them slack. The only good song from them this year is catchme, and only one. They can do so much better than this.
DeleteIt's shadowed by the good choreography and the audience cheers. Sounds like the same shit to me.
ReplyDeleteJust like it happened with "The Boys" I see many SONES forcing themselves to like the song ("I didn't like it first time I heard it but now that I replayed it many times I liked it"). I used to not have to listen to their songs 100 times in order to like them after brainwashing myself.
ReplyDeleteUgh t all of this. There are songs that stick after a few listens but the people defending igab basically had to sit through it for several minutes and hoped that everyone follows. I've actually heard this song more than 5 time now, the structure is just shit, plain and simple
"YG is too obsessed with their American music and having their singers pretend to be Lady gagas and nicki minajs that they look like nothing but copy cats."
ReplyDeleteHave you missed the fact that kpop is american music in Korean or are you being delusional?
1. [+636, -154] It's funny because the same person composed Super Junior's song and SNSD's but Super Junior got the hate for their song sucking but the composer is getting the hate for SNSD's song sucking ㅋㅋ Double standards, seriously
ReplyDeleteSo true. Seriously, IGAB is just as bad as SPY if not it's worse. Shit and this time SNSD doesn't really have that many great non title songs.
SNSD gathered the most fans due to those songs, due to GEE and GENIE so I really don't know why they would switch the entire table and make songs that are nowhere close to GEE and GENIE, in which the fans loved and even non-fans acknowledged. If SNSD continued to make those sorts of songs, I would probably still be a fan.
ReplyDeleteUmm One of a Kind. 1,2,3,4 by Lee Hi. Fantastic Baby was catchy. I Love You made it to the year end charts as well. Bad boy was also extremely catchy.
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is how most international SONE on AKP thinks that this is the best song ever...
ReplyDeleteObviously biased comments.
Deletethere is always stupid people in AKP.
ReplyDeleteThey say the same thing of T-ara, Bigbang, TVXQ, 2NE1, F(x), SJ, Kara, 4minute, Infinite, WG, Shinee, Apink, EXO, BAP, Sistar, Dalshabet songs, etc.
stans always say "best song ever"
If you guys thought just the song itself was bad, check out the translated lyrics: http://kromanized.com/2012/12/31/rom-eng-lyrics-girls-generation-i-got-a-boy/
ReplyDeleteIt's times like these when I'm actually glad I don't understand Korean.
saw the performance and the choreo is very nice
ReplyDeleteThe rest of the album was a lot better than IGAB, lol. I would've loved to see "Talk Talk" as the title instead of this mash-up SM is passing off as a "song".
ReplyDeletemost kpop songs have shitty lyrics XDDD
ReplyDeleteI can't really remember a single part...too much overload...
ReplyDeleteListen to it for another...30 times, you have to let the brainwashing juices warm up and then kick in.
ReplyDeleteThe lyrics for this song are really weird, too.
ReplyDeleteAyo! GG! Yeah Yeah, shall we start?
Uh-muh! Look at her, look. What happened to her that she cut her hair? huh?
Uh-muh! Again look at her, look! From head to toe, her style has changed
Why did she do that? I’m curious to death, why did she do that? Tell me
Ha ha! Let me introduce myself! Here comes trouble! Follow after me!
Oh oh oh yeah oh, oh oh yeah oh, you really are something else!
Who is she? Ridiculous
Do you know you’re too self-assertive? She thinks I’m average
Yeah, I guess she really liked him!
No way! No way!
She became so pretty and sexy, it’s because of him, right?
I almost asked her what her new makeup was
Truthfully, I’ve seen it for the first time
The deep eyes, like a scarred beast
I was dizzy by just talking to him!
You really are something else! You really are something else!
Oh oh oh yeah oh, oh oh yeah oh, You really are something else!
Oh oh oh yeah oh, oh oh yeah oh, You really are something else!

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS. SERIOUSLY.
WHAT THE FLYING FUCK IS THIS SHIT.
No wonder the k-netizens complained about the lyrics.
DeleteHoly shit...I liked most songs from SM from last year actually, like, SHINee, BoA, TVXQ, TTS, etc. But this one...I have no words. It realy is a mess. I don't even think this can be called a song at all.
ReplyDeleteAnd now this proves it's getting more shitty.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, at the parts in which there is the change the girls get a slight break, [Like when Tiffany is singing and it's all black] a new set, new outfit. So it looks like a different song and all.
ReplyDeleteMaybe when they perform the entire song in one set, one outfit, no breaks will I consider to consider.
I'm not disagreeing with that, but IGAB just takes it to the next level... "Frankly speaking, when I first saw you, your eyes looked like an injured beast"
ReplyDeletewhat.
yoo youngjin, did you lost your touch completely now? if it's for suju i'm not surprised, but it's for snsd. tsktsk don't be greedy of royalty and just let those groups work with other composer. f(x) tracks have been a whole lot better than before ever since you stopped trying to mess with their songs.
ReplyDeleteWhen SNSD released a song with the same concept, people will say that SNSD has no creativity and everything sticking to one same concept." But when they tried something new, people are still complaining saying they want the old concept. Pfffttt... say what you want to say, I think this song is great tbh, it's more great when it's Live.
ReplyDelete"YG is too obsessed with their American music and having their singers pretend to be Lady gagas and nicki minajs that they look like nothing but copy cats."
ReplyDeleteThey only look like copy cats to those that take them out of the context in which they are from KOREA. Would you be saying the same if you were living in Korea and only knew of korean artists?
YG is influenced by American music and at least they still make their music to cater to koreans, unlike a certain company that goes and buys an american song to use and all that is done to change is the language.
Neither of them are catchy lol. Maybe Bad boy compared to all of those but they charted because of their name. There's a difference.
ReplyDeleteIt's not about the concept, it's about the song... I have no issues with the Jeremy Scott style or their hair or the video, just the song...
ReplyDeleteTheir old songs are better, but I think you are too blinded by your fandom to be able to have an unbiased discussion.
I think eat your kimchi will make fun out of the lyric. LOOOOL
ReplyDeleteLOL and look how they are down voting my comment. xD Hahaha...
ReplyDeleteFor once I agree with you.
ReplyDeleteIf they charted due to their name, Suju would have charted higher.
ReplyDeletewow you are still here?? go out and have some fun, girl, this crap of song won't go anywhere :)
ReplyDeleteWell even so, they had an all kill on all charts, SM is too big to fail.
ReplyDeleteThey could release an album of the girls breathing sounds and it would become triple platinum.
You can blame him for writing the crappy song but you can't blame him for everything. Like anybody, the coaches/teachers there, LSM, SNSD anyone, did no one try to stop this song from becoming the title?
ReplyDeleteYup, I am here with great determination, and read the comments daily while stuffing rice cakes in my mouth.
ReplyDeleteWell we are all different, and not everyone is blessed with a good music taste...
ReplyDeleteThe song is nice, try to watch their Live performance, it'll grow in you. and i am not being unbiased, there are songs that i dont like from SNSD. TBH, i dont even like the song at the first time hearing to it but then when i watched the Live performance, i know it's a good song. and yes, their old songs are better. just because i like SNSD and i like IGAB, it doesnt mean that i am blinded.
ReplyDeleteLOL...
ReplyDeleteNot all, I mean did no one listen to it before deciding it was going to be the title track?
ReplyDeleteIt also has to do with how long they actually stay charted. Many chart high but fall off quickly. BB was pretty consistent.
ReplyDeleteim not even kidding when i say it gave me a head ache after the 8th listen. i only repeated it cause i wanted to get the song but in the end it was pointless because it is simply a terrible song (imo). this isnt surprising though, i haven't liked an sm song since 09. i'd say put more effort in but why would they? they're the no.1 company and no matter how much the music or mvs lack quality i dont think that'll ever change.
ReplyDeleteas you are unaware, suju is not as popular in korea, they are mostly unaccepted eexcept in their own fanbase, bigbang is more widely accepted thus their songs would def chart better
ReplyDelete'' If another B level group and not SNSD came out with this song, it could
ReplyDeletenot have even dreamed of ranking in the top 30. This is the reality...'' TRUE
Digital sales is a better sign of popularity compared to physical, since physical allows multiple buys and has primarily hardcore fans buying, while digital is cheap and generally shows overall popularity. Digital sales say YG is very very catchy.
ReplyDeleteInstead of just enjoying this song, you should imagine it as a conversation between a girl and a boy, that why their suddenly change the sound and genre. A lot of k-netizien said the lyrics is kind of sassy, but if you think it as a conversation between girl, it will makes a lot of sense.
ReplyDeletetoo bad all these complaints are going to be for naught if the album sellls another 3-400k
ReplyDeleteNo, it'll follow them just like how Suju's followed them.
ReplyDeleteAm i the only one who found the song interesting? I'm a sone, an internationalsone actually, just so you know. but i actually like this new approach of music. Though i have a problem with the linking of the songs but what i appreciate the most is that, when i listen to it, i know there lot of things going on to watch out for and the song makes me feel lots of feelings. Idk, maybe we just have different tastebut this song so not ordinary and i like it :)
ReplyDelete...Well Suju flopped and here we are with Snsd...although it'd be a bigger hit if it was Snsd taking the blow.
ReplyDelete?? Suju still releasing sorry sorry remakes what are u talkin bout?
ReplyDeleteThese complaints aren't going to go away if SNSD's album sells more. Suju sold a lot of their album and the complaints never stopped. That album is greatly recognized as a flop, no matter how much it sold.
ReplyDeleteI know. I agree with that so so much. -.-
ReplyDeleteBut it's expected to do good on the charts just because it's by SNSD.
Is it bad that I want the other artists to do better? Please, another Busker Busker group!
OMG! I thumbed down your comment! I'm sorry. I was about to press reply. Rrrr. *i'm on mobile. *
ReplyDeleteI was actually enjoying the first part. Taeyeon was working it then the IGAb change part was acceptable then all of a sudden it becomes a mess....
TRASH
ReplyDeleteRemix? I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole. Sincerely, taking a song (I use the term song loosely) that's a fucking mess, and remixing it, just blows my mind. But maybe he can perform a miracle and make it good, who knows.
ReplyDeleteI gotta agree with all of the K-netizens.
ReplyDeleteYey so much hate. I'm actually a GG fan but this song requires hate, not to GG but to SM and Yoo Young Jin. Without a live performance, GG is gonna fail big time. How can they give the national girl group a trash song???
ReplyDeleteand SNSD's song is probably going to be consistent too, despite the fact that it takes 2 minutes to get to the catchy part, so that's not much evidence.
ReplyDelete3. [+626, -162] SNSD's visual, style, and MV set were all pretty and
ReplyDeletenice but the song is so disappointing.
compare to suju who always has bad MV and bad song.. oh well... SNSD is still lucky enough LoL
although I'm a fan of them, I still dont get IGAB. It seems like 3 songs mixed into 1. After listening, I dont know what chorus is. I have to say that their 2 Japanese albums are much better than The Boys and IGAB.
ReplyDeleteI miss Gee, Genie T.T I just want my girls back to Genie era.
lol sm stan, digital chart (not album bulk buyers) might want to differ. aside from tts, f(x), and maybe boa, everything sm released last year is a hot mess. wait... not that hot. and tvxq? lol. old yyj tracks and their jpop release, maybe, but how can you call catch me something match with quality? and... and... sherlock?? lol. thankfully they hired some famous choreographer to cover the weird stuffs.
ReplyDelete1. [+636, -154] It's funny because the same person composed Super
ReplyDeleteJunior's song and SNSD's but Super Junior got the hate for their song
sucking but the composer is getting the hate for SNSD's song sucking ㅋㅋ
Double standards, seriously
SO TRUE!! LMAO
amen. at least yg invest more in their mvs, even though some of their investment went wrong on stupid hairstyles
ReplyDeletemeanwhile, yg stans suddenly love psy and epik high because apparently they're "yg family" now
ReplyDeleteWell we'll just have to wait and see if it does, won't we?
ReplyDelete...That's what company stans do so...
ReplyDeletesfm agree!
ReplyDeleteSo fucking hilarious cuz there are some international fans that are going like "omg guiz u HAVE to know the Korean language to really get the song. It all makes sense if you know the translation/korean" etcetc. Then you have these k-netizens going "Dude WTF is this song?". I don't need to know the translated lyrics to get that this song is a trashy mess.
ReplyDeleteI never really disliked SNSD because their past..past..(i mean years ago..) songs and MV concepts were cute and catchy..but this tittle song is just..uhhh..over the top. Exaggeration everywhere! O_o People didn't got tired of their cute image..why not just stick with it? Im not saying its bad to take a chance to change..but they should be sure they can pull it off!
ReplyDeletewhat do you expect? A biased attention?
ReplyDelete1. [+636, -154] It's funny because the same person composed Super Junior's song and SNSD's but Super Junior got the hate for their song sucking but the composer is getting the hate for SNSD's song sucking ㅋㅋ Double standards, seriously..
ReplyDeletelol..this...
sometimes i really sympathy with super junior...well, this will happened if your status is different...snsd is nation girl group and loved by many people...suju always being hated in their own country...so, when their song sucks, people will blame them not their composer..but if SNSD it really different..double standard..
JUST PLEASE DON'T RAP..
ReplyDeleteHaha, my thoughts exactly. SNSD were never trained to be rappers; I don't know why SM keeps trying to pass off half the group as such. Hyoyeon's the only one with any sort of flow to actually pull it off, but even she is a bit sing-song-y in delivery. Stick to training them as SINGERS, SM.
ReplyDeletenever mind...i also think the same,at first i was enjoying the first part,..then like u said it suddenly becomes a mess..i'm so agree with u...
ReplyDeleteI got a boy = mixing 5(maybe 9?) different not-so-bad songs into 1 song!! BAM!! One trashy weirdness!! :(
ReplyDelete
